After Suede played one of the greatest gigs ever at V99, one of the first things I did once I got home was to buy tickets to see them again! Raissa opened the set, but was just a female soloist who wasn't very good, whereas Merz were a fairly conventional guitar band who successfully managed to rock fairly hard. Suede hadn't changed much from their V99 show, with a similar setlist and the pillars behind them. However, poor sound quality and a smaller setting meant this was just a weaker version of their festival set, and therefore a slightly redundant night out. Fun and everything but still a comedown.

I must admit details almost totally fail me, but I recall She, Starcrazy, Down, Elephant Man and Savoir Faire having something special going on with them, and many tunes being extended to a pretty epic degree. The night was perversely closed by Brett asking us "what night is it?" I think Thursday was the correct response, but to confused looks he insisted on it being Saturday night before closing with the song. Fair enough to say that when it is Saturday, but a bit weird otherwise!
