GIG NUMBER SEVEN
Who
Their massive banner was revealed and Supergrass hit the stage with an incredible version of Moving. It was a perfect opener, made even better by my position at the front! As far as I can remember they then proceeded to play all their singles and every other song that mattered in a perfect set. Can't really remember the details of any other songs though, but I do know we sang along throughout, there was a massive crush, and everyone went home very happy. It was probably the fact that just about every tune was excellent that stops any particular one from remaining in my head!

An excellent gig, making me wonder why I haven't seen Supergrass loads of times since! Things didn't start too well though as Add N To (X) were dire. Their set was based on a series of pointless noises with no regard for structure whatsoever. The guy in the band seemed to be obsessed with some box that appeared to be making much of the noise, and there was also a very mediocre female singer. At first the novelty was interesting but it soon wore off and I saw just what an appalling show this was. And no, it wasn't musical conservatism that meant they weren't appreciated, they were just terrible!
