Super Furry Animals lyrics - It's Not The End Of The World? It's Not The End Of The World?

Why...? (X2)

When you fall asleep
Before the end of the day
You start to worry

Like when the taxi comes
To take you away
When you're in no hurry

Yet as our hair turns white
All the stars still shine so bright above

At least it's not the end of the world?

Why...?

We could live it large
Coz we're only old once
Let's make a difference

Turn all the hate in the world
Into a mockingbird
Make it fly away

Yet as our hair turns grey
Everything is far from A-OK

At least it's not the end of the world?
No no?
At least it's not the end of the world?

Why...? (X3)
Aaaah

Quote (1) (Gruff on ringsaroundtheworld.co.uk):
"It's a romantic song about growing old: a very melodic string-laden song. The video's a montage of mushroom clouds and explosions. There's a story of a farmer outside Nagasaki who, when the bomb went off and he didn't know what it was, thought it was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. He had no concept that it was a danger to him. It sounds a bit bleak on paper but I think it's one of the most seductive songs on the album."
Quote (2) (Guto):
"We recorded this in Bearsville Studios, Woodstock, and did this after an American tour and we stayed there for three weeks. It was a wonderful old '70s place in the middle of a forest with bears roaming around. But the song is all about nuclear Armageddon, the end of humanity and a black rock spinning 'round the Sun called Earth which is inhabited by cockroaches but is still called Earth."

Dylan Jones - All the footage from this film was recently declassified from the military archives and made available to the public domain. Sometimes quite beautiful but mostly disturbing and frightening, this film shows a series of atomic tests and the naivety of those poor souls made to stand in front of them, all in the name of propaganda. Dylan was born in Bangor, North Wales in 1973, and grew up in village of Llan Ffestiniog. He started making films as a student in Bangor in 1992. His CV includes Electronic Imaging, Vjing, editing, directing and Holographic experimentation. His latest work was seen at on the multiple screens of Furrymania when he mixed the DVD live to the sound of the band playing on stage. Additional edit by Al Edwards.

Notes:
The single video was directed by Paris-based animator David Nicolas. David is one of France's most exciting animators/graphic artists, having begun his journey as a graffiti artist, subsequently moving into album sleeve artwork painting and animation. The video is a visually stunning lifecycle that starts with a birth and culminates with a big bang.
