Zeitgeist or what? The Super Furry Animals have found inspiration in Mexican revolutionaries the Zapatistas while recording sound effects for their new album 'Phantom Power'.
The band hired AK-47s and Uzis then spent a day running amok in Monmouth, South Wales in order to create war sounds for the album.
Frontman Gruff Rhys told NME that the band were so concerned about the panic they might cause, they called the local police to tell them of their plans for album track The Undefeated.
He said: "We hired the guns and just ran around with them. We had to contact the police to let them know we weren't out there massacring people."
"It's about underdogs, and overdogs. It's a real simple lyric. It's a pop song with biblical references, and no specific issue or event in mind, although I probably wrote it when the Welsh football team were going through their worse period of results in their history. It just shows how sometimes your fantasies can come true, and now the song, apart from the title, doesn't fit at all. It's about, even at your lowest, seeing a ray of light."
