Won't you take me back to my hometown?
Take me back before I break down
I say you please return me
I wonder what can I do?
I was found
Won't you take me back to my hometown?
Will you ever return me?
I say you please return me
I wonder what can I do?
Calm down and then leave me alone (X4)
I say you please return me
I wonder what can I do?
Quote (1) (Gruff):
Will you ever return me?
Will you ever return me?
Just like Frankie Fontaine (X2)
Riding a unicorn
Could be worse
I could be backwards born
Take me back before I break down
Will you ever return me?
Will you ever return me?
Just like Frankie Fontaine
Will you ever return me?
Will you ever return me?
Just like Frankie Fontaine
Will you ever return me?
Will you ever return me?
Just like Frankie Fontaine (X2)
"In 1979, he was on the way to market to sell clothes with two mates. His two friends were walking to the car when they saw a white light picking Frankie into space - allegedly. So his friends, obviously, go to the police to say: 'Look, a big white light has pinched our mate from his car, we are concerned' - you know? The police said: 'we don't believe you, you are only market traders, we are convinced that you have murdered him.' Lo and behold, ten days later, Frank emerges from a cabbage field, fully intact, goes home. By this time his mates have been released, because they couldn't prove anything. Frank says, 'I've only been away half an hour.' He became a media celebrity."
Quote (2) (Gruff):
"This is a homage to Frankie Fontaine who was abducted by aliens in France in the mid 1970s. They left him in a cabbage field a few miles from home. He was putting ketchup on his fries one day in a diner and it started to trigger the memories of his abduction. But in the end it is just still a simple song about wanting to go back home, whether that is from another town or from outer space."
