Here's a bio on our lucky star...Robby! It's not really a bio, just tells a little teeny bit about Robby. Enjoy!
Robby's childlife---he was born on September 30, 1964 in Buffalo New York. He grew up on the suburbs in a tightnit family of four...with a mom, a dad, and a little sister, Trisha. Some of his activities growing up were altar serving, boy scouts, baseball, and playing the trombone at school. He was an outgoing, happy-go-lucky kid. When he was 3-years-old, his grandmother gave him a ukelele. He started school at Ellicot Road School in Orchard Park, New York, before his family moved to West Seneca in Buffalo. He attended Ebenezer School, where his Irish-Catholic mother taught the 6th grade. Robby's Hungarian-Irish father was an artist-turned baker. In 1983, Robby graduated West Seneca East. His uncle gave him his first actual guitar, and then Robby picked up the bass... and now look at him! He said that he's always had long hair and his family has always told him to cut his hair and get a job!
His jobs before becoming a rockstar---he used to deliver pizza and did telemarketing. He also became a disc-jockey by some internships. But spinning other people's discs wasn't enough so he started playing the bass and joining in numerous bands.
Beginnings of a rockstar---Robby went to Medaille College (I think) and got a degree in communications. There, in 1985, he met Johnny Rzeznik by his cousin, who was in a band with Johnny at the time. Robby helped to draw Johnny out of his shell and they soon became best friends. In 1986, Robby, Johnny, and Robby's old school friend, George Tutuska, formed the Sex Maggots (although Johnny denies that was their name and seems embarrassed by it). They played in numerous clubs and were forced to change their name. They were drunk when they came up with Goo Goo Dolls. It was on the back of True Detective magazine, there was an add for a "Goo Goo Doll," which is known to be a little doll that you stick your fingers in and it makes a weird face. Robby started out as the only singer and by the time they got to work on their second album, he encouraged Johnny to write and sing. Robby is still singing and hopefully always will. He writes many songs and is great at it too. He's very active on stage (from what I've seen) and is great in concert! He's very talented at the bass. He plays it like it's his whole world. Robby has guided the Goos the whole way and I think that if it weren't for him, the Goo Goo Dolls would no longer exist (horrible thought, isn't it?). He's helped not only his fans, but Johnny as well.
What I think of Robby---Robby is the sweetest, most adorable guy that's ever walked the earth! He's so outgoing and friendly and it makes you just wanna hug him! He has great hair! I've never seen his hair look bad once! He's very talented and is amazing at the bass and songwriting. He writes some of the most meaningful songs that have really helped me. He's got the coolest voice and I love how he's so concerned about Johnny and his fans. I love Robby so much!
More Robby---it's said that Robby likes computers, movies, and driving around. He loves pez and I hear that he also likes mexican food. Robby's best friend, of course, is Johnny. He's the oldest (he's 38) but smallest member of the band...he's about 5'-5" I think. He's got his ears pierced (I'm not sure how many holes) and his eyebrow pierced...which looks awesome! He's also got some tattoos but I've never really seen them up close. I know he's got one of a 'space-girl' on his leg and one of a crying baby on the back of his neck (which he says is his favorite) but the rest I don't really know. His favorite color is blue. He has over 900 pez dispensers, mostly given to him by fans. He owns about 20-30 guitars and has a bass named 'Daisy.' He's had this bass since the beginning....it's black and has a big daisy sticker on it. He's used it in a lot of the Goo's music videos, and he used to use it live A LOT. Now he only uses it for recording albums. He has two tabby cats named Chibi and Gus. He updates the Gutterflower Tour Diary at the Goo Goo Dolls Official Website. He's now married to an oriental (that's not meant as a racial comment) woman, I can't remember her name though. He loves his parents and his grandparents. I hear his grandma is pretty cool! They call her Grandma Goo! I'm sure she is cool if she's got a grandson like that!
Robby's full name---Robert Carl Takac...he likes to be called Robby now though. In high school everyone called him Rob. I know because I have his senior yearbook picture and the quote beneath it says; "i don't have to fight to prove i'm right."
Note; If you notice any false information, or know anything else about Robby that I don't have up here...please email me at the address above. I won't put any personal information up because it's no one else's business but their's and whoever else they want to tell. Thank you!
