I still had a week until the contest, and somehow I managed to keep myself busy. I started my senior year in high school,so it wasn't hard. Fast-foward to Monday: I went to NY right after school,and I met up with Cathy and Kenny and the train station where I got off. We then wen to the Hammerstein, and t was PACKED. There was the longest line I had ever seen right in front of the entrance. I asked around and managed to find a rep from z100 who told me to wait around near this z100 van that was parked there, since at 5-6 p.m., they would be handing out the tickets and the passes to the winners. I was then told by someone, I forget who, that the meet and greet would be after the show. [Z100 called me a couple of days before and told me that I would be getting meet and greet passes,but I didn't care, because I was still gonna meet them anyway:0)] So, at around 6, I got the tickets and the passes. What was the ebst thing about winning was that they let us in first!!They let us Z100 winners in!I had better seats than people who had been waiting outside since the night before!!How kewl is that? They then let us in right after we got our stuff. We were able to make it into the pit, which is right there, and we could see the stage perfectly.
Neve was the opening act, and they were awesome!!I really loved thier set. They sang about 6 or 7 songs, the last two being their debut single "It's Over Now", and a cover of that "hey teacher,leave them kids alone!song.Ok,now I feel stupid since I can't remember the title or band,but I better soon.I usually know this stuff!:(...Well, then, after their set, both the guitarist and bassist came out to meet the fans. They were so nice!!!!!That bassist is so cute!LOL.Then came the big show......
It got all quiet, and the lights went crazy, as did the fans. Then, they all came out. Let me tell you, I have never heard a crowd that LOUD.They sang a total of 27 songs, including TTA acapella.Here's what they played...
01. Look at You- This really got the crowd started...I'm surprised that I actually heard it..... 02. Crosstown Traffic-A Jimi Hendrix cover.Really cool,really good. 03. Where's the Love-Always good live. 04. Runaway Run-I just LOVE this song, and Zac played really good during his little drum solo. 05. Wish That I Was There-I was surprised to hear this early on in the show,for some reason, I though it would be in the middle,still played good live though. 06. Save Me0Right before they started playing this song, Ike had his accoustic guitar, and I go to myself, "hmm..what are the odd that they're gonna play 'Save Me' Next?", and sure enough, next thing I know, I hear "LOVIN' YOOOOUUUU" and all the Tay fans went crazy. I'm surprised I heard this one at all. 07. Can't Stop-REALLY good..especially the "tick tock goes the clock" part.... 08. Thinking of You-Good live,sounds better than the recorded version... 09. Piece of My Heart-The Janis Joplin cover.Well done.I had just heard the song on the radio a couple days before too,so I remembered some of the words... 10. Lucy-I didn't really get to hear this song until the middle of it,but I was really excited to hear it because I had never heard it live... 11. A Song to Sing-Excellent live.Ike really got into this one. 12. Sure About It-This was good.Everyone just basically sang along.It was kind of a bonding moment between Hanson and the crowd... If Only-Awesome loud.This got the crowd going once Tay took out the harmonica. 21. Speechless-Also awesome live.The crowd really got into it. 22. Hand in Hand-Right before they played this song,it got all quiet and Ike started talking.You could tell he was about to introduce someone.I had heard that Jonny Lang was gonna be in the show,so onc I heard Ike say "bluesman", or something like that,I went nuts (I'm a HUGE fan,plus he's just hot)and got ever so excited.This was awesome live. 23. You Never Know-Really really good.Bu I was just realy watching Jonny Lang..he he.. 24. Johnny B. GoodeThis was great live.Jonny got into this one,alright.He loved it when they were singing "Go, go Jonny go".He just ripped it up on this one. 25. MmmBop-I can't believe that I almost forgot the words!It got real loud and I couldn't make out what Taylor was singing!LOL.But then I got it.Everyone wents nuts singing along to this one. 26. In the City-This was awesome live;they were really rockin' hard on this one.Everyone was jumping and going crazy.This song rocks live. 27. I Want You to Want Me-Zac sand lead on this one.At first,I had no idea what it was,but then I figured it out.It was really good.I had only heard it like twice before,so it was kewl to hear some classic rock. 28. TTA a capellaAWESOME.Great to hear lives.Their harmonies were excellent on this last song.I was happy that sang it, cause I had heard so many good things about it.What a great way to end the show...
After the enocre,we had to go upstairs to the "mezzanine floor" (it was something like that,I can't remember what it was called)and we had to wait in line to go to the meet and greet.We were standing against the wall in one of the balconies,and Diana just came walking by to talk to someone.I only got to see her face for a nanosecond,but it was easy to tell that it was her.I have a friend named Ellie who has really long blond hair,and I go to myself "Hey,that's Ellie in ten years!"LOL.(It's her religion that she only trim her hair,but not cut it).Everyone just kind of stared at her for a while.Then, before you knew it,they were letting people in!I had to only wait for less than 5 mintues when they let us in!When we were let in,I saw them all right away.We just kinda hung by the door as they took a picture with other Hanson fans.Then,we walked up to them.I got to shake Taylor's hand first, and I looked right at him and said "Dude,that was the BEST show."(Seriously,I was so tired,and my brain was mush that off all the thigs I COULD have said,I said that!)and I think he just nodded.I don't really remeber.(ITZ all kinda a blur)and then I got to shake Ike's and Zac's handon,and I told them the same thing.Then,we posed for the pic.I got to stand right next to IKE!If you wanna see me, go to hansonline.com or hanson.net, look up th meet and greet NYC Hammerstein show pics,and see if I'm there!I have on a green t-shirt with a blue Hanson sticker on my shirt(ITZ the This Time Around cover in al blue, and it says "meet and greet",and has the number 167),I have blue glasses on,I'm standing to Ike's right and he has in arm around me.Cathy is right in the front.I forget what she wore,but she's short and has black hair and she's right in font of me.Then,after the pic,I told Ike that I just LOVED Jonny Lang's performance,and he just smiled and nodded,and then I left.The pix aren't up on Hansonline yet,and they better be up soon!I don't have Hanson.net,so if anyone does and has seen them,please e-mail me,I'd really appreciate it!!!Well,that was my night..I'd relive it again in a heartbeat.I'll never forget that night!
