Trustfall is....
It took a over a year and the deconstruction of four bands for the Trustfall engine to start. Back in the fall of 1997, two of the bands members(singer Adam J. Morse and guitarist Zac Weber) moved to the city of Boston from New York completely unaware of the others existence and leaving behind their respective bands Pimpstick and Thrive. They were both attending Boston University, and met through a shared acquaintance. They got to talking about their influences, finding that they were both inspired by the New York hardcore scene and the newly changing metal scene. They decided to try getting a band together and put up a flyer for a drummer.
It was at this time that Matt Raftery was enjoying some success as the drummer for local Connecticut band Sugarmilk, while attending Berklee College of Music. Sugarmilk shared a scene with former locals Staind, and had played shows with national acts such as Limp Bizkit. During a week of tensions within the group, Matt saw the flyer that Adam and Zac had put up, and decided to answer it, as he feared the eminent break up of Sugarmilk. As he expected, Sugarmilk soon disbanded and he began to focus his energy on this new project. When Matt joined, Adam was playing bass and a singer was now needed. There were numerous auditions that all went horribly. After what seemed like an endless number of phone calls and auditions, things started looking hopeless. It was at this point that Adam mentioned his previous tenancy as the singer for his old New York band and they decided to give him a shot. After a short time jamming on a couple of their songs, it was obvious that this was the direction they should go. Things went a little more smoothly finding a replacement bassist. After a couple of try outs from local Boston bass players, they found their fourth member back in New York. Andy Kuusisto had been trained at Boston's Berkelee College of Music and had just recently ended his time with the band House of Raven. Ready for a new project, Andy was approached by Zac about joining Trustfall. A few phone calls were made, and one practice later Trustfall had completed their lineup with Andy on bass. The songs came together quickly and so they began hitting the clubs. It didn't take long for people to take notice of Trustfall's tightly crafted Hardcore/Metal/Groove sound, and they began being offered shows left and right. After playing in numerous clubs in New England such as the Middle East downstairs, Gabby's, Copperfield's, The Bar with No Name, and the Webster Theatre, Trustfall decided to begin recording their debut album. Over the Summer of 1999, Trustfall recorded "bright", a nine song CD at New Alliance Studios with the assistance of engineer Andrew Schneider (Blue Man Group, Roadsaw, Scissorfight). New Alliance has been host to recording sessions from such bands as Powerman 5000 and Godsmack.. "bright" is an amalgam of the band's many influences and has a range of emotion and sound that stretches from soft and melodic to fierce and scathing. In October, "bright"was released on Retaliate Records, and on October 23rd Trustfall held their CD release party at O'Briens in Boston, and played to a sold out crowd. Things are moving quickly, and the band now seems poised to become a dominant force in the New England metal scene.
