He's eyeing a spring release.

Legendary filmmaker and cult movieman, John Carpenter, has asked guitarists Robin Finck, formerly of NIN, and Buckethead of Guns N' Roses to lay down some sounds for his upcoming horror movie Ghosts of Mars.

Buckethead is an avid Carpenter fan, getting the idea for his white mask from the Halloween movie, and also drawing inspiration to his music from other Carpenter classics such as The Thing, The Fog and Escape From New York

KNAC.COM: The first opportunity I ever had to see The Cult live was on the Electric tour with an unknown Guns N' Roses opening. The gig was in San Antonio, TX, but unfortunately, I got thrown in jail that night and missed the show. What was your first impression of Guns N' Roses as a band and how much fun did you have with them considering their reputation for being rowdy motherfuckers?

BD: Great question. I remember the date. I remember the Sunken Garden Theater in San Antonio 'cause Ian nearly got arrested for swearing onstage. Ian had to climb out the dressing room window with a baseball cap on. He climbed down a drain pipe, got on the (GN'R) bus and pretended to be one of their road crew. The tour was great. Ian kind of spotted them. Ian's a really great sort of A&R guy. He really spots bands early. He said to me, "There's this band they're really great and we should take them out as an opening act 'cause they're amazing. They're a real rock n' roll band from America called Guns N' Roses." So, I was in London and they were playing in London and I went down to try and see them and they were playing the Marquee club and it was sold out. I couldn't get in. I thought, "Oh, there must be a little bit of a buzz on this band, ya know?" So we took them out on the road in America as our guest and it was a cool thing. We partied a lot. We had somewhat of a reputation at that time also for, uh, shenanigans. We had a good couple of months together on the road and, basically, the friendships are still there. We're still friends.
