Kimb: Bass and backing vocals | Jaime: Guitar and vocals

STARTING OUT:

Polystigma* was imagined by jaime years before we played our first note. After learing guitar for a while she and her friend Maryanne decided to form a band, at first it was just a joke - they would ask friends to be in their band but nothing ever got off the ground.
Finally, Kirsten who had just bought a drum kit and went to their school joined the band. The three of them placed an ad in the drum media for a "female bassist aged 14-18" Kimb was one of the three girls who applied.
There was an interview at Jaime's house where only two girls showed up... the second was kimb.
We had our first practise two weekends later in Kirsten's lounge room, the 8th of August 1998. It was pretty tragic, we were all out of tune and just played the same riff for a few hours. After a few months Maryanne ceased to be in the band.
The three of us continued to practise every Saturday for a year, we didnt really realise we sucked so much at the time, but, well, we did. We built up a small set of songs, which included swapping instruments - each of us would play guitar, bass and drums and take turns lead singing. It was in 1999 that we had our first real gig at "Jack's Island cafe" in Horsnby, and recorded our first demo "Embrace the Cheese".
At the start of 2000 (its a long story im not going to get into here - lets just say your hairdresser can give you a lot more than a good hairstyle) we met our managers Rob and Colin who pointed us in the right direction. We began to practise twice a week at Noisegate studios in Castle Hill, our gigs became more frequent at places like The Iron Duke, Lane Cove Youth Centre, Youthrock 2000...and more i cant remember right now...last year we also recorded our second demo "This sucks- remix it again"
Who knows where we will go from here, stay tuned....

UPDATE 2001:
2001 has been a great year, March saw the recording of F@*$ IS A FOUR LETTER WORLD and Polystigma playing alongside such acts as Superheist, Grinspoon, Sunk Loto and One Dollar Short at GROUNDED FESTIVAL in Penrith. Other gigs included Greensquare (around 8 times now), the Great Western Bar several times, The Excelsior Hotel, and STACKS MORE. Gigs which had to be turned down due to illness included The Bar Broadway with Muta and The Bat and Ball. This year Kirsten and Kimb both turned 17 and Jaime turned 18. In November the girls updates their songs by recording a 5 song demo. They shared a nice dinner with Craig Kamber in Newtown and even went on tour in Queensland! The Queensland "Whose Ya Daddy Tour" alongside Sydney metal and NOTION saw the girls play 5 gigs in the Brisbane area including The Jubilee Hotel, The Basement and The Plough Inn, getting airplay on loacl 4ZZZ FM and selling every copy of their demo compilation cd FRESH OFF THE ROAD. The summer holidays are starting off quietly but 2002 will see Polystigma coming back bigger and louder than ever!!!

SO FAR 2002: In early 2002 Polystigma played their first showcase to Michael Long (ex-manager of Jimmy Barnes/ Cold Chisel and ex-tour manager of INXS of twelve years) who had recently started his own record label LONGPLAY RECORDS.
Polystigma were shortly after, offered a record contract with the independant record label, negotiations are taking place...
Polystigma have so far this year played alongside Frenzal Rhomb, Area 7, Butterfly Effect and Toe 2 Toe at GROUNDE FESTIVAL 2002 not to mention a bunch of other well-received gigs.
Bass player Kimb received an endorsement from YAMAHA.
They are presently writing new material for an album release.
In April it was mutually decided that Kirsten would no longer be part of the band, Kirsten had since moved to England and Kimb and Jaime are auditioning new drummers at this moment...STAY TUNED!!!
