Feedback | Have you heard? | HomeSurvivor Live in Braunschweig, Sunday 22nd of April 2001
We (Yvo and myself) drove away away from Holland at 13.00 and had about 400 KM to go. Braunschweig was found quickly but the concert hall took about an hour so after some searching we arrived at 17.30 so there was time for a quick bite. At 19.15 the gates opened for security to check out everybody for cameras and about 10 minutes later the door opened so we got in.
As being one of the first we were at the front of the stage which was about 2 meters higher so we had a good view there. The next half hour seem to go very slow but at 20.00 Survivor finally took stage. The crowd went crazy and the first tunes came out of the speakers, again they opened with Velocitized and again it rocked like hell, what an awesome new tune that was played perfectly. After a big applause they went on with Rhythm of the city and it was clear were we in for a treat again, Jimi was in great shape and Frankie was like a guitar with two legs. Now it was time for High on you and I couldn't see anyone who wasn't singing along. Jimi introduced I see you in everyone and they played like thier lives we depending on it, after 3 minutes Frankie started a guitar solo and what he showed us will probably never be done by any other guitar player, looks like he was from another planet, I never knew these things could be done with a guitar. In the meantime Jimi enjoyed himself above the stage and smoked a cigarret while he really was enjoying Frankie's solo. About 3 minutes later Jimi finished the song and the crowd was ready to cheer the roof off the place.
It was time for a quiet moment so The Search is over started and Jimi played with the audience and showed his show talents. It was great to see how Billy and Chris were completely in the song and looked like they were dreaming along with the tunes. The crowd did their best to be louder than Jimi.
Next song was I can't hold back and that was the thing the crowd felt like. Jimi announced they were going to do something different and they started with Burning bridges, from the Too hot to sleep album, something Jimi almost forgot. The intro of Burning Heart started so I knew it was to be the last song and it went over in Eye of the Tiger, I think this song was cheered along by the whole audience including the Uriah Heep fans, never knew a crowd could go this wild. The song ended with a big bang and it was surprising to see Marc’s drumkit was still in one piece. The guys went off stage and the crowd started cheering "Zugabe" and I thought by myself why don't they cheer We want more but the band probably had gotten German lessons cause they came back and shake the place once more with Broken promises, unfortunately this rally was the end of another great show and it made me realize how lucky I was to have two other shows ahead of me.
Really looking forward to see Survivor again on Friday and Sunday.
After the show we went to the merchandise stand and we were surprised there was a new CD for sale, it was a new compilation called "Fire in your eyes" and it was released on the Mercury label so I think this means they signed a deal so let's hope the new CD is coming soon. This night was meant to last forever, Yvo was very fortunate to catch a guitar pick and a towel from Jimi (which I got from him) and at the end of the show Marc threw his drumstick to him.
With a bag full of memories and merchandise we went back to Holland for a 4 hour drive and it was worth every minute, see you guys back on Friday. - Flip
