Yvo from Holland -

What drew you to Survivor, to purchase their music? Or which was the first Survivor song you ever heard?
Yvo: The first song i ever heard was EOTT. I thought that was a pretty neat song, but at first that was it. How i got the EOTT-album was kind of a funny story. At that time my mother had a co-worker who collected Dinky Toys (you know those little cars and stuff). Since i wasn't interested in them anymore i gave the ones i had to that co-worker. The brother of this man (i know it's getting a little complicated here) ran a recordshop, and so i was asked what album i would like to have for giving him the Dinky Toys. You already guessed, that was EOTT. Rest of the story is pretty predictable. I loved the music with Feels Like Love being my favorite, together with Ever Since The World Began. FLL is still one of my alltime favs, especially the live version, it just keeps the adrenaline pumping. As soon as CITG hit the shops i bought it and from that day on i tried to lay my hands on everything i could get about the band.

Do you remember "the Year" that you became a fan?
Yvo: Well that must have been 1982.

Do you have all their albums? Which are your favorites?
Yvo: As far as i know i have all the albums. Vital Signs is my favorite with Too Hot To Sleep being a close second place. But i must say that i love to hear any of the albums, they all have their own attraction. So it's difficult to speak of a real no.1 album.

If it's not too personal, can I ask your profession or occupation?
Yvo: Sure you can. I run a business in the wonderful world of computers (ahum). I sell PC's and stuff and also install networks at companies up to 50 workplaces. Don't ask me why as i'm sure that everyone who reads this will have had problems with them one way or another. Still it's a profession you won't get bored to do. It's very varied.

Do you have other fans/friends/co-workers in The Netherlands who you can discuss Survivor's music with?
Yvo: Yes. I used to listen to it with a friend of mine who also like Survivor's music, but i don't speak to him very often anymore. I must say that was more than compensated when i met Flip Valero which i'm certain most of you will know. We visit each other from time to time to exchange our musical interests. I'm very happy i met him a few years ago, he's a great guy with a big heart.

P.S. Yvo added at the bottom of his interview answers... "Ok that's enough foreign language for one day."

Hotlinked to the newsletter logo below are two pages relating to Jimi Jamison or the band.
(When I came in contact w/Brenda Tuck 8 years ago, she provided me w/issues of The Jamison Journal. In there I spotted a picture of Yvo from Holland!) 'Twas a good way to keep an ear on what was happening w/JJ and his bandmates.
