The Future Legends got their name all wrong. With a shadowy sound straight out of the Bauhaus/Bowie/Cure songbook, their music seems to more accurately reflect the history of legends past. However, the Central Florida goth rockers do add enough innovative guitar work to keep things fresh, chugging along in melodic misery to the rhythm of frontman Eric Legend's dolorous moaning. Think of a depressed Count Chocula who drags out each line-e-yine-e-yine and you'll get the general idea. The Future Legends are a heartbroken Type O Negative, a whips-and-chains Ziggy Stardust... just more gloom than doom, and definitely more ham than glam. Whether you love it or hate it this is a sound you already know, albeit one revisited with impressive skill and sincerity. If the American pop landscape ever finds room for a competent goth band, then the Legends might have a future after all.
