The Future Legends and the Chamber Strings
19 April, 2001 at Common Grounds

Having just received their newest CD, Month of Sundays, I was excited to see The Chamber Strings and was curious about how they would present their rather orchestrated sound on stage.

By the time I arrived at the club all the band members were present and hanging out socializing with the crowd. I thought this was a good sign, and when they stayed in the crowd during the opening set by Gainesville's own The Future Legends I decided I liked them before they played a note.

The crowd was treated to a dramatic opening set by our glam-goth heroes, fronted by Eric Legend himself. Legend makes for quite a sight on stage in his glittery make-up, Saran-wrapped torso and frantic, active movements on the smoke-filled stage.

Legends' band plays tight, melodic, Bowie-influenced music, and they play it well. If you ever had a soft spot in your heart for Bowie, Peter Murphy and Robert Smith, then you should check this band out.

After an enthusiastic response from the crowd that drew an encore by The Future Legends, The Chamber Strings were ready to take the stage. . .
