Musical History: This could get long even thought it’s hardly been 3 years. Well, I bought a bass so I would have something to do with my bud Chris Myers. My first bass purchase was on January 3rd, 1999. We jammed maybe 3 times together before we decided to start jamming with my Junior High and High School buds Scott and Howie. This was sometime in February of 1999. We jammed together maybe twice before we started talking about Shaun coming back and being the fulltime drummer (Howie was the interim drummer) . Well, we continued jamming through the winter and spring until Shaun came all the way from Georgia over to here in May to pursue this band idea with us. We continued to write our grand total of 3 songs together, and if I remember right they’re called: “Wasted”, “Nothing to Lose” and “Burning Bridges”. “Wasted” was a jam, it was what we called “our show-ender” in which it was. We played one show, on my 21st birthday, and it was decent, and I thought we were on our way. We DID end the show with “Wasted”. After that show, Scott quit. A few months later in January 2000, after trying to sell him on the idea that we had a shot, Howie moved to Reno. And then in May 2000, Shaun put the nail in the coffin when he up and moved back to Georgia. So Chris and I stood together, exactly where we stood 18 months earlier. I started getting jittery, so I went hunting for drummers. No luck for about 4 weeks. Then I went to Farmclub.com and found a guy that I thought Chris and I would mesh well with. It started with him auditioning for us, then I found out that we had competition. So we more or less auditioned trying to get Andy. As it turned out Andy wouldn’t join a band unless his buddy Kelly could play too. Well, Kelly, Andy, Chris and I jammed together twice and it was damn fun. Kelly kicked ass, that dude can wail. Then school started so, trying to start a crew was halted. In October of 2000, I had enough. I was starting my own damn crew, and I didn’t care who it was. I just wanted to find 3 or 4 other guys who wanted nothing else other than music. I didn’t talk to Andy for about 3 months, then he called me, and we talked for a bit and it turned out he was the first one added to my new band. A couple weeks later, Scott joined back up taking on the rhythm guitar and lead vocal duties. And what I thought wouldn’t happen…Chris joined the crew, and I had my 4 man band. Well, in February of 2001, Scott parted ways with us. We had to find a new vocalist. Andy knew this guy Dave who fit the bill, auditioned for us. And about 5 days later was officially in the crew. In March, we started writing new material together. We had 4 songs done in July, when I ran into Kelly at a party. The next day, Andy calls me to tell me that Kelly wants a tape of us, and wants to learn our songs. 3 weeks later, Kelly was officially back with us. So all in all, it took us a year, but we have Andy, Kelly, Chris and I…except now we have a vocalist. This crew is called Rust, and we’re in the studio writing stuff for our FULL LENGTH album…no demos from us. What do we sound like? I’m not gunna say. All I’m allowed to tell ya is that we’re heavy, offensive, aggressive and out of control. Updates can be found at www.rustmusic.com.
