Pics | Corkscrew |
In 1980 the corkscrew opened as the first major ride at Alton Towers and not only was it the first major ride it was Europe's first double corkscrew coaster. For about 19 years it sat untouched and un-themed but then as Ug land came it had a make over new trains and a themed queue line so when people entered the line they had to walk through the old bones of what looks like a T-Rex but as far as the re-theme of festival park that's all that was done to corkscrew. This ride is popular with children who are to small or too scared to try nemesis or oblivion but in my eyes this ride is worse then them two put together. The queues for this ride can build up and you could be waiting anything from 15 mins to 2 hours depending on what day and what time of day you try to ride it. The coaster its self is fairly basic its made up of drops, helixes and yes you guessed it corkscrews I know it doesn't sound like much but when the train hits the break run your glad its over as it gives a rough and painful ride.

My opinion | |
Once is enough for me thanks! I think this because it is a very rough ride and throws you around a lot and you also find your head hitting against the restraints a lot too so its more pain than I like thank you. But on the other hand it is a good ride and its the only standard coaster in Alton Towers all the others have something about them i.e. nemesis = inverted oblivion = vertical you can see where I'm going with it now.
