[Kim O-Bass] [Kim H-Guitar] [Katie-Guitar] [Candace-Drums] [Emily-Keyboard] [Ben-Vocals] [Katelyn-Silence] | Not many young bands these days can say they've been through a whole lot since their formation, and we're among them. The Flaming Pineapples have a history that goes back almost a whopping two years! It all started back in the seventh grade when we decided that it would be fun to form a band. We held our first rehersal in Emily's living room, with instrumentation that consisted of a drum set, a piano, a guitar and a kareoke machine. Woo-hoo. Needless to say, this went absolutely nowhere. However, about a year later (once KT had picked up a guitar and Kim O. a bass) we were ready to try again. It was February 4, 2002 when The Flaming Pineapples were officially born. But oh, no. We weren't The Flaming Pineapples then. We called ourselved The Lady Janes, and our first ever performance was a girl's choir version of "Brain Stew" for our parents. The name was changed a week later, and we've stuck with it since then. Not long after that, our original singer, Jessica, quit. We needed a new one, but we held off on that for a while. We had a gig to prepare for! That's right, in June we were set to play at graduation, so we spent hours in KT's garage practicing the two covers we would play: "When I Come Around" and "Stay Together For The Kids." We won't talk about that. Since then, we've come up with a new singer, Ben, a new bandroom that we love, and some new music to share with the world. Though we still play some covers, The Flaming Pineapples are hard at work writing songs with the hopes of putting out a CD someday. Until then, you'll just have to hang tight and come to our shows. |
