[Begin first cutscene]

[We are in a dimly lit canyon underneath a Covenant cruiser hovering in the air overhead. The camera travels languidly through narrow passages revealing various Covenant and Flood engaged in combat]

Cortana: "The Covenant network is absolute chaos...From what I've been able to piece together, their leadership ordered all ships to abandon Halo when they found the Flood, but they were too late. The Flood overwhelmed this cruiser and disabled it. The Covenant are terrified the Flood will repair the ship and use it to escape from Halo, they've sent in a strike-team to neutralize the Flood and repair the ship for immediate departure. I've got a good lock on Captain Keyes' CNI transponder signal. He's alive, and the implants are intact! There's some interference from the cruiser's damaged reactor, I'll bring us in as close as I can."

[The Master Chief is teleported upside-down into a hallway in the Covenant ship. He is held in the air for a moment and looks up at the floor before he falls on his back with a grunt]

Cortana: "Oh...I see! The coordinate data needs to be-"

[The Chief gets to his feet while shaking his head, and hits his helmet to reorient himself]

Cortana: "...Right, sorry."

[End first cutscene]

[Begin second cutscene]

[The Chief plummets from the Covenant ship before landing in a large pool of thick green goo in the canyon below]

[The Chief flies back into the Covenant ship via a gravity-lift]

[Begin fourth cutscene]

[The Master Chief approaches Keyes with his Assault Rifle leveled. The Captain has been almost entirely mutated into a massive sack of flesh by the Flood. His body hangs limply at the front of the sack, he's barely visible though, due to being almost completely engulfed by the infection. Behind his body, the large bulbous sack, or organism, holds itself upright by extending thick vines that connect with the walls, floor, and other various artificial objects. The Chief halts in front of the Captain and lowers his Assault Rifle]

Cortana: "No human life signs detected, the Captain...He's one of them..."

[Cortana's voice takes on a frantic tone, the Chief looks down and shakes his head]

Cortana: "We can't let the Flood get off this ring, you know what he'd expect-....What he'd want us to do..."

[The Chief smashes his left-fist into the Captain's head and rips out his neural chip, shakes off the excess fluids, and inserts it into his helmet]

Cortana: "It's done...I have the code. We should go."

[End fourth cutscene]

[Begin fifth and final cutscene]

[We're on the outside, looking in at the docking-bay of the Covenant ship. The Master Chief comes into view as he sails out of the ship in a stolen Banshee and flies off into the night]
