Script Chapter 4
The Silent Cartographer
[Begin first cutscene]
[We see an island set in the middle of a vast sea. The water shimmers, brightly lit by the sun. Threshold is visible in the background beyond light wisps of cloud. The camera rotates up and left as two Pelicans roar into view, accelerating towards the island. We go into the Master Chief's perspective aboard the lead dropship as you skim over the ocean]
Cortana: "The Covenant believe that what they call "The Silent Cartographer" is somewhere under this island."
[From the rear of the dropship the island becomes visible. The shallow water is translucent and teal in color. Waves beautifully caress the sandy beach]
Cortana: "The Cartographer is a map room that will lead us to Halo's control-center."
[Positioned just up the beach: a large beautifully iridescent structure comes into view. There are numerous Covenant Grunts, Jackals, and Elites on the beach now beginning to fire at the dropships]
Cortana: "The island has multiple structures and instillations, one of them contains the map room. "
Foe Hammer: "We're approaching the LZ, it's gonna be hot, get set to come out swingin'....Touch down! hit it Marines!!"
[The two dropships swing around and the Human-forces unload onto the beach]
[End first cutscene]

[Begin second cutscene]
[A previously locked door slides open and a Covenant Commander strides into the room from the hallway beyond the door]
Cortana: "Good, that should open the door that leads into the main shaft."
[End second cutscene]

[Begin third cutscene]
[The Master Chief activates a holographic control-panel located in front of the Silent Cartographer. A holographic-Halo spins 360-degrees and separates into multiple blocks. Several runes appear, located at different points on the Halo]
Cortana: "Analyzing...Halo's control-center is located there. That structure appears to be some sort of temple, or shrine, if I've interpreted this correctly. Interesting...a shrine is an unlikely place to put such a significant instillation."
[End third cutscene]

[Begin optional cutscene]
[The Master Chief walks up to the edge of a platform and kicks a pebble off. The
camera circles around to reveal a massive shaft, leading hundreds of feet into
the ring's core]
[End optional cutscene]

[Begin fourth and final cutscene]
Cortana: "Let's get moving. Foe Hammer, here are coordinates and a flight-plan I've worked up."
[The Pelican dropship lifts off and does a 180, heading back towards the center of the island]
Foe Hammer: "Uh..Cortana, these coordinates are underground!"
Cortana: "The Covenant did a thorough seismic scan, my analysis shows that Halo is honeycombed with deep tunnels, which circle the whole ring."
Foe Hammer: "I hope your analysis is on the money Cortana, this Pelican won't turn on a dime."
[A circular platform slides open and Foe Hammer descends the dropship inside]
Cortana: "Look on the bright side Foe Hammer. The last thing the Covenant will expect is an aerial insertion, from underground."
[The platform slides shut again, gradually eclipsing the sun until all that's left is darkness]
[End final cutscene]
