Simpson University Fund Raiser

"So this wasn't a real MORGAN gig, okay. I thought it would be worth putting on the MORGAN web site though. The caption below appeared under the photo in Simpson University's newspaper, The Slate. Simpson is an evangelical Christian school, and it's not uncommon for them to send some of their students out on missions to various parts of the country or overseas. My friend Will Hennessy was playing for a fundraiser to send some students to the annual Rainbow Gathering. I admit I cared less about the mission team and more about getting to play in a gig, since it had been quite a while since I backed MORGAN behind a drum set. This was the next best thing. Will played some of his favorites and then called me up in front of the audience to play some lead licks for 'All Alone' on someone's accoustic/electric guitar. I'm no Brian Gallagher, but it actually came off pretty well. Will had a lot of experience playing it since it was one of his favorites on the album. I was pretty jazzed about it, and thought it was cool of Will to let MORGAN get some cheap publicity out of it."

The fundraiser concert for the Rainbow Gathering mission trip took place in Mod 82 at 7:30 p.m. on March 18. Will Hennessy opened the event alone and was joined for a cover song by Simpson alumnus Walker Starr, a former member of the band 'Morgan.' 'Morgan' originally wrote and performed 'All Alone,' the song Will covered. The other bands that performed were 'Hazel and Vine,' and 'The Golden Lights.' Some of the members of 'Hazel and Vine' were unable to appear, but the band entertained the crowd and succeeded in selling a few CDs. The missions team raised around $130."
