Biography The first unofficial signing to Ossein Records is SYLOSIS - Here is there biography ( hopefully the band will be starting a tour later this year ) - Sylosis formed around 2000 in Cemetry Junction, Reading, all at the age of 15. Guitarist Josh Middleton rounded up musicians Richard Zananiri (Guitar), Carl Parnell (Bass), Chris Steele (Drums), Glen Chamberlain (Vocals) and Dave Anderson (Vocals). The name Sylosis was found in a very dated 1911 dictionary - 'Stripping bare of hair and flesh' - Scalping. The bands intentions were and still are, to create brutal, extreme metal that didnt necaseraly fit into any one style. The musical content of the Sylosis sound is: Skin slicing, grinding riffs (known as 'The Shreddage'), intense screams/singing, gut rumbling bass and frentic beats, But always something different and memorable in each song. Being influenced by a range of Metal genres including; Death metal, Hardcore, Thrash, Groove and just straight up Metal, the band decided to become as heavy as possible yet retaining catchy hooks, the odd melodic moment and intricate dynamics. The first ever Sylosis gig was a Berkshire battle of the bands, which, to their astonishment, they won. The prize was to record a CD at No-Machines studios in Wokingham. The band then went on to play more local gigs in venues around Reading and eslewhere with bands such as Vacant Stare, JoR, Junk DNA, Age of Ruin, Pitchblend and Flipcycle. Various zines (including Rocksound Magazine) reviewd the bands CD and Interest in the band came from Sid Abuse (Velocity recordings - see links). He managed to get the bands first ever London gig sorted out with Readings own Sunset sound and the Pin ups (unusual combo, but good gig). The band are set to start working on a new CD at some point and are setting up many more gigs for the future. Come check them out. |
