The first St. Nicholas church was located near the beach in Torbay. Although no records have surfaced to confirm the exact date when the construction commenced, it is generally accepted that work began during the early 1820's. The foreman for this work was William Codner of Lower Street. The church served it's congregation for almost a century before being replaced in 1924.
The cornerstone for the new church was laid by Sir Joseph Outerbridge on September 14, 1924 and concentrated and opened on June 13, 1926. This same church still stands and is used by it's congregation.
The cornerstone of the Holy Trinity Church was laid by Bishop J.T. Mullock on October 9, 1859 and the building was consecrated and dedicated on October 12, 1863.
Plans for a new, larger church were considered in 1917 and the cornerstone was laid by Archbishop E.P. Roche on August 8, 1919. The church closed in December 1988 because of structural concerns.
The new Holy Trinity Church was consecrated on June 21, 1992 by Archbishop James H. Macdonald.
