Jimmy Page(b.James Patrick Page) was born on January 9th, 1944 in Heston,Middlesex, England. His parents(his mother a doctor's secretary, father an industrial personnel officer) always wanted Jimmy to express his talents. When Jimmy was 12, he became inspired to play guitar after hearing Elvis Presley's "Baby Let's Play House". He picked up an old beaten up classical guitar recieved to him as a gift from his parents and started to play. He took several lessons, but after that Jimmy taught himself everything about guitar(with the help of books). At age 15, he joined Neil Christian and The Crusaders. He left them after 2 years of a tiring touring life. He then enrolled in a visual art colledge(having always been interested in painting), but quit after 18 months, because he had come back to his obcession with guitar. After experimenting with many bands, he became one of the most wanted guitarists in England. After a turned down offer in 1965 to join The Yardbirds, Jimmy finally joined in 1966 as a bassist. Then Jimmy played lead guitar with Jeff Beck, but in 1968, the band members went their separate ways, leaving Peter Grant(manager), and Jimmy Page members, with the burden of finishing the contract The Yardbirds had made with the record label. Jimmy and Peter went out to make a new band. John Paul Jones, who had recorded with Jimmy before, joined as the bassist. Then Peter and Jimmy recruited Robert Plant as the singer, and Plant reccomended John Bonham to be the drummer. They went under the name, The New Yardbirds, but soon the name Led Zeppelin was in. Led Zeppelin lasted from 1968-1980 with the 4 original members. After John Bonham died, the band said that Led Zeppelin couldn't replace Bonham, so they would stop going on tour and making records. Led Zeppelin never officialy broke up, and the remaining members played events every once in a while, such as Live Aid in 1985, Atlantic records' 40 year anniversary concert in 1988. In 1994 Jimmy Page and Robert Plant got together on a tour, to play some classic cuts by Led Zeppelin acoustically. To prepare for this event, the two stayed at a cottage in the UK called Bron-Y-Aur, where the band had recorded Led Zeppelin III. Jimmy recorded an album in 1998 with Robert Plant, "Walking Into Clarksdale", and went on a tour to promote the album. Also, Jimmy Page recorded the guitar parts to Kashmir for Puff Daddy's "Come With Me". Jimmy has played with The Black Crows a few times, and went on a tour with them in 2000. In the same year, Jimmy recorded a track with Plant called "There's A Hole In My Bucket".
