Rockin' The Ridge 2007

Review By EPEFAN2

For the second year in a row, James hosted his Rockin' the Ridge show. This year it was much bigger, and it really showed.

Sarah Corman opened the set with an amazing acoustic act.

After that, Sarah joined The Electric Liberace Experience to cover Coheed and Cambria's Blood Red Summer. AWESOME! After that, they played Pour Some Sugar on Me from Def Leppard. It was killer as always.

After that it was time for EPE's set. Things kicked off with a killer new prerecorded intro called Vincenzo's Pizzeria. HILARIOUS!

From that, they went into Super Human Hero Spacebums. Amazing performance, but you can barely hear the vocals. Bummer.

Without hesitation, they went into Black Rum. BEST. VERSON. EVER! Amazing solo by Carter.

After that was the EPE classic...FABULOUS! This may be the best I've ever heard the band play. Carter's solo was surreal.

When the Lightning Strikes Again was next. It was a bit odd this early in the set, but the band nailed it. It's really too bad the vocals aren't easier to hear.

The first of 2 new songs was next. The band played She's Gone to perfection though James flubbed the lyrics something vicious. This is a band that is showing musical progression.

Everytime I See Your Face was next. FINALLY EPE NAILED THIS ONE! However, it seems that the arrangement was shorter...

The second of the debuts was next. Quicksilver was killer, though Stokes drew a complete blank on the lyrics leaving James to fill in as best as possible.

Next was a tune that the band wasn't going to play until 5 minutes before the set. Via request, the band played The Temptation's My Girl (which was supposed to be in the ELE set). They cut the solo, but it came off well considering the lack of rehearsal. Stokes sang the first 2 verses and James sang the third.

James' favorite tune was next. The band totally NAILED Into The Darkness. Not a single flaw in this one and the crowed erupted after Carter's solo.

Stokley introduced his personal favorite next. YOUR LOVE! They played the Outfield cover as well as they ever had though Stokes had an issue or with the lyrics during the breakdown.

Next was.................ANIMAL! Stokes came in late and James lost a stick all in the first 10 seconds. James called bullshit and decided to restart the song. Honest to god, they have NEVER sounded better. The sing a long was great and they added a new 45 second part to the break down. As always, the perfect closer.

After EPE played, Marshall Branch, A Mob Liberace, White Lemon, and Mad Anthony (Formerly the Black Scabs) nuked brains with their AMAZING sets. Mad Anthony had trouble finding the joint (they are from Cincy), but once they did, it was totally worth it.

There are rumblings that this could be EPE's last show (at least for a while). If it turns out to be that way, it was a VERY fitting end.
