Our Holiday!

Arrival
It was Cole's first plane trip and he fell asleep within a few minutes after take off. Chance, a veteran traveller, was excited....he knew we were off to an adventure. After a 3 hour flight (Rhodes was one hour ahead of Germany), we arrived at Grecotel Rhodes Island Hotel, an all inclusive family resort located on the beach, in time for the breakfast buffet. Afterward, we explored the hotel grounds which consisted of 3 outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a gym, beautiful landscape, and an outdoor restaurant/bar at the beach.

Pool
We spent the better part of our holiday lounging by the pool in the hot sun and then later taking naps in our air conditioned room.
Chance loved the water...he always put up a fuss whenever we dragged him away from the pool. He learned to keep his mouth closed while floating in the deep end of the pool. A difficult feat especially when he would get excited and make sounds.

Beach
The sand was more like little pebbles than fine sand. It reminded me of the Black Beach in Santorini...the sand black due to Volcanic ash. The water was cold but refreshing especially from the strong sun.
Joe snorkeled around the reef and saw bright fishes and lots of little jellyfish. On our last day there, he went for a swim with Chance on his boat float and accidently brushed against a jellyfish on his leg. He ended up with a scar as a souvenir. It's a good thing I had read before that peeing does no good on a jellyfish sting so Joe was spared the embarrassment.

Food
We had an all inclusive package which meant we could indulge in all food, snacks, and drinks including alcohol as much as we wanted.
Since our vaction package was all inclusive, that meant all food, snacks and drinks including alcohol were free for our taking. For lunch and dinner, we had the choice to either dine in the main hotel or the convenient beach bar located between the beach and pool. Although the buffet was smaller, we liked eating at the beach bar in our swimwear.
We were impressed with the selection of the dinner buffet...quite a number of dishes to choose from... and most of them tasty! They had a lot the usual Greek foods...lamb dishes, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, baklava, mousaka...just to name a few. Each night they had a different theme...one night was Italian food night, another carribean food. I took a huge liking to kiwi jam (it was so sweet!), feta cheese with tomatoes, different kinds of olives, and the huge selection of dessert. I ate with my eyes...I think I even shocked Joe when he saw my dessert plate!
