Cinderella [Tom Keifer-vocals/guitars/piano/etc, Eric Brittingham-bass, Jeff LaBar--guitars, and Fred Coury--drums] was formed in Philadelphia around 1983. Perhaps it was fate that brought Keifer and Brittingham together on Halloween night, 1980. The two met at a local bar, and Tom asked Eric if he played the bass. Eric joined Tom's current band, Saints in Hell. The two would later from Cinderella! In the beginning the band went through several changes with their lineup. Cinderella was discovered by rocker Jon Bon Jovi in 1985, at the Empire Rock Club in Pennsylvania. Jon has been quoted in various magazines as saying “I saw Tommy Keifer onstage...delivering some pretty nifty, growling vocals. Then he whipped out this Les Paul...and proceeded to lay into some astounding sounds. This guy struck me as a star right then and there."
Cinderella's debut album, Night Songs was released in August 1986. At one point it sold more than 50,000 copies a week! The album also went triple Platinum.
Cinderella's second album, Long Cold Winter was released in 1988. The shows featured Tom being gently lowered to the stage from the air on his grand piano. During the tour Cinderella joined Ozzy Osbourne, The Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, and Skid Row to play at the Moscow Music Peace Festival on August 12 & August 13, 1989. The Long Cold Winter tour ended after 254 shows and fourteen months on the road.
Cinderella's third album, Heartbreak Station, was released in 1990. Tom began having vocal problems later during the tour. Later, Fred Coury left the band and joined former RATT vocalist Stephen Pearcy in a band called Arcade.
By 1994, Cinderella had released their fourth album, Still Climbing, which received unfortunately little attention. Things seemed to fall apart for the band.
Tom and many doctors could not seem to find out what was wrong with his voice. Eventually, the problem was attributed to the paralysis of one of the cords. Tom has had numerous surgeries and therapies to restore his voice.
Cinderella reunited in 1997 and toured the United States in the following year. They released two albums, "Once Upon a..." and "Live at the Key Club." They also went to work recording new songs but were dropped from their new label, Sony. The band toured in 2000 and 2002 with Poison. Recently, they released a DVD collection and album entitled "Rocked, Wired, and Bluesed" and also a live concert from 1991!
