Tales of a Traveller

Chapter 1: The Journey Begins
He raced through the forest, his mind a blur. He yelled at his horse, hoping it could possibly go faster. "Move it ya damn horse!!" , He shouted at it. He glanced behind him, repeatedly, looking for his pursuer. He saw the Knight in heavy armor, with a large battle axe closing in on him. "Damn!!!! Get away! I've done nothing!!" he yelled to the knight, but he just continued to close in on this mysterious person. The man reached into his cloak, and pulled out a sharp knife. He abrutly stopped his horse, and the knight, unable to react, charged forward, as the man stuck out his knife, piercing the knight's black armor, knocking him off his horse. He jumped off his horse, to the knight laying on the ground. He picked up his helmet, revealing his face. He was coughing up blood, and his eyes were closed. The man pulled out his Silver Great Sword, The "Light Breaker". The knight opened his eyes, and saw the man with The Light Break positioned over him. His eyes widened with fear, and he edged backwards. "W-w-w-w-who are you..? I was only sent after a thief who stole some food from the butcher..." "This meat?" The man grabbed a large side of beef off from his horse's back. "Well, then I'm your thief. I'm Chrono, the unremarkable." Chrono bowed, and chuckled a little to himself. "C..chrono? Ugh.." The knight edged backwards, and Chrono brought his great sword down, into the knights chest. The knight threw up blood, and shook violently for a moment, until he stopped moving completely, and his breathing stopped. Chrono picked up his sword, strapped it onto his back, jumped onto his horse and rode off.

Chrono arrived at the nearby village, and parked his steed outside the local inn. He walked in, and tossed the innkeeper a few gold coins, grabbed his key, and walked into his room. He lay on his bed, thinking about what the hell has been going on the past few days. "I need a way home.. this place sucks.." He kept thinking to himself, about what he was going to do. The Inn Keeper overheard him, and walked into his room. "A way home? You must be a traveller from afar..there is a wizard in the nearby town, Volktar, who may be able to help you." Chrono looked at the man, and smiled stupidly. "Why, thanks heheh.." The Inn Keeper walked out and Chrono drifted into a light sleep.

Chrono awaked with a loud noise. The heat was unbearable, and there were people talking in the main room. "Hand him over!!" a deep voice, Chrono regconized bellowed. "What are you talking about?" the frail voice of the Inn Keeper echoed through the inn. "..That..that..that..demon!" the deep man yelled. Chrono knew what was going on, and readied his sword. He walked out, to find the wall of the inn on fire, and the deep voiced man, the man he knew, The Captain of the Knights. He was in Silver Armor from head to toe, with a white cross on his chest. "Looking for me, fool?" Chrono taunted. The Captain dropped the man, and glared at Chrono. "Yes you, fool. You're wanted, and we shall take you in!!" Two knights sprung out at Chrono, swords drawn. Chrono ducked one of the thrusts aimed at his head, and leg sweeped the other. The Other knight swung downwards at him, and he blocked with his sword. He got to his feet, and brought the swords up into the air. He brought his foot right into the knight's chest, sending him flying into a wall. By now, the other knight was up, and brought his sword into Chrono's back. Chrono fell to his knees, and scowled. "We have you now"! The Captain shouted gleefully. "..N..ot..yet.." Chrono muttered weakly, as he leaped to his feet, and pointed his arm at the knight. "Dark Star!!" Chrono shouted, and the knight's eyes widened, as a burst of energy fired from Chrono's hand, completely black. The knight covered his head, cowering. The blast blew right past him, not doing anything at all. The knight laughed, and charged at Chrono. Just then, the blast stopped, and reversed, coming from the knights back. The knight turned around, only to see a grey energy engulfing him. His scream was cut short, as his body exploded. The energy dissapated. Chrono chuckled at the Captain, who was edging to the door. "I..I'll get you yet, you demon!" The Captain shouted. "Yeah, right." Chrono turned around, and dashed into the hallway, and burst through the back wall of the inn, where his horse was waiting. Together, they took off into the night, heading for Volktar.

Chapter 2: Volktar

After a few days of travel, Chrono reached Volktar. It was a large town, much larger than the last one he had visited. He never even got the name of it. Oh well, he thought to himself. He rode into town, and stopped at the local general store. He picked up a few loaves of bread, some wine, some salt, and a few pieces of meat. He payed the store clerk, and put them on the saddle bag of his horse. He rode, and a small armor shop caught his eye. He stopped, and walked inside. "Armor by Ikthar" was the name. He glanced over many pieces of armor. He saw Plate, Bronze, and even Chain. What caught his eye, though, was a Steel Plate Helmet, with horns coming out of the sides. It appeared to be the only one in stock. He took it, and walked to the shopkeeper. "How much is this?" He asked calmly. The storekeeper responded, "5000 gold pieces." Chrono's eyes widened, and he thought to himself..I only have about 200 gold pieces.. "Surely, you can lower the price for me, right?" The storekeeper shook his head. Chrono frowned, and pulled out his sword. "Right?!" He points the sword at the throat of the storekeeper. The store keeper nodded weakly, and Chrono handed him 10 gold pieces, and walked out. He stored his helmet, for later use, in his saddle bag, and rode over to a small hut.

Inside, he saw an old man sitting by a large kettle, with boiling water inside. "Hey, you, are you a this mystical wizard person?" Chrono asked. The old man looked up at him, "I guess you could say I am.." Chrono smiled, and pointed his sword at the old man. "I want to go home. I hate this damn place." "And..where is your home, persay?" the wizard asked. "Sebilis.." Chrono responded.. The Wizard widened his eyes. "The..the..the..the..the..demons tomb?!?" The wizard asked in amazement. Chrono narrowed his eyes. "Yes. Now can you take me?" The Wizard nodded, weakly, and opened up an old book. He began chanting an incantation. "Thank you, Wizard." The Wizard finished, and Chrono and has his horse appeared outside Sebilis, the demons' home. Chrono took his stuff off the horse, and sent it out into the wild. He put on his helmet, and walked into the tomb, grinning evilly.

Chapter 3: Sebilis
Chrono walked into his home, Sebilis, and saw his fellow demons forcing around human slaves, and butchering others. Many different types of demons were there, and Chrono knew them all. He walked deeper in, and reached a tall black demon, with a large halberd in his hands. "Chrono, you have returned." he said. "Yes, I bring news of the humans." "What is that?" The demon asked. "They plan on a large scale war with us. They're after me espcially." The demon nodded, and went off to report to the higher ups. Chrono walked back into his room, and threw himself onto his bed. He quickly fell asleep. He slept for a few days, when he was awoke by one of the younger demons.

"The humans are here!!!!" The demon shouted. Chrono jumped up, grabbed his sword, put on his helmet, and rushed out to join the battle. He arrived outside to see a large scale battle between the humans and demons. Demons were flying and sliceing up the humans, humans shooting arrows into demons, slicing up demons. He saw the Captain from before, ordering his troops. A human charged Chrono, and he ducked his swing, stuck The Light Breaker into him, and pulled out, splitting him in half. Chrono attempted to get to the Captain, swinging his way through the knights. One was decapitated, another cut in half. But, the demons were slowly losing ground. Chrono couldn't let this happen. He reached the commander, and engaged him. "It's me!!" He shouted, as their blades crossed. "You'll pay for your deeds, demon." The commander slashed Chrono across the chest. Chrono jumped back. He chanted a few words, and brought his arm up to the Captain. "HYPERDRIVE!!!!" Chrono shouted, as he instantly became super fast. He charged the commander, and stuck his sword into his back, then swung around and stuck it into his chest. He swung at his leg, and cut it off cleanly. Chrono stuck his sword into his chest, and charged,.. "Light Breaker...take his soul!!"..The Light Breaker flashed, and the light from the man, slowly was absorbed into the sword. When it was done, the once captain was just a putrid skeleton. Chrono dropped him to the ground, and looked at his sword, as it flowed with power.

The humans saw their commander dead, and began to lose. They ran, and the demons followed, massacreing them. Humans were cut down, and blasted apart. Chrono looked.. he felt something different. He wanted them to stop. What was this feeling? He stopped in his tracks. And, just stood there. In awe.. "STOP!!!!!!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. The demons stopped, and looked at him. "We don't need to do this!! We've won the battle!!" Chrono pleaded. The Messanger demon from before scowled at him. "Why should we spare stupid humans!? Chrono, I think there's something wrong with you." "No, there's something wrong with all of you!!" "Chrono! I cannot take this talk. You are banished from Sebilis, forever! Be gone!!" Chrono looked at all the demons gathered around him.. He began to walk into the forest. He took one last look, and walked in the forest, banished forever by his friends. "They aren't my friends..if they were my friends, then..they wouldn't have done this. They'll pay! Damned demons!! I shall take them down!! But I can't, as a demon myself. Then, I shall return to my true home." He found his horse, and rode off, towards Volktar.......

Chapter 4: Travelling To Volktar Chrono begin his long journey, to return to Volktar. His horse walked through the forest, slowly but surely. Chrono looked around him, to the serenity of the forest he was in. All was quiet, except for the gentle trotting of his horse's hooves upon the mud trail. He thought to himself about what happened, as he slowly pushed foward. Damn..Damn that Magician! He's the reason I'm here.. I'll find him, and chop off his damned head. How could he do this to me? It's not my fault.. He wouldn't listen to me. I told him, I forced into it!! Damnit. I'll go back yet. Chrono clenched his first, and scowled angrily. After a few hours of travelling, the sun began to set. Chrono stopped his horse in a small clearing, and tied it to a nearby tree. He pulled out a small pillow, and made a bed of leaves. He began to sleep, but not deep. He woke up every so often, when he thought he heard something, but it was nothing.

All of a sudden, He woke up, and saw an old man, with a long crooked staff, in a flowing blue robe. At first, he thought this person staring at him was a traveller. But, he saw the white cross stitched into his robe. The old man glared at him, and raised his staff towards Chrono. "Hey..come on, can't we talk about this?" Chrono asked. The old man said nothing, and threw his staff into the ground. In a fiery explosion, the staff opened up the earth, and a large fire breathing monster crawled out of the hole. A Summoner! He's a summoner! ****! Chrono unsheathed The Light Breaker, and circled the monster. He stopped, and the monster spit a huge fireball at him. Chrono ran to the right, out of the path of the fire ball. He charged the monster, and scaled it with incredible easy. He reached it's horned head, and shoved his sword right into it's neck. The monster roared, and fell to the ground in a heap. Chrono pulled his sword out of it, and walked towards the now wide eyed summoner.

"A Summoner assassin? Trying to assassinate someone like me? You'll die!" Chrono charged the old man, and jammed his sword right the middle of his chest. The old man gasped, as Chrono pulled out his sword. The man tried to give him a kick to the chest, but Chrono grabbed his foot and held him there, while the old man tried to balance on one foot. Chrono stepped over the old man's leg, and gave him a roundhouse kick. The man flew back into a tree, as he slumped to the ground. Chrono walked to him, as he breathed slowly, with his head down, eyes closed.. He brought his knee right into the summoner's withered face. Blood flew onto the ground, and Chrono did it again. He grabbed the man's head, and knee'd it repeatedly, faster and faster. Blood covered his knee, and the man was no longer recongizable. Chrono stopped, and took a deep breath. What was he doing? Hadn't he learned of compassion just hours earlier? He thought to himself.. He sighed, and packed his things onto his horse. He hopped on, and continued riding towards Volktar.

Chapter 5: Volktar--Revisited.

Chrono rode, day and night towards Volktar. His journey was quite peaceful now, after that last fight. He reached Volktar, in the early morning. He walked through the town, the heat almost unbearable. He walked through, trying to avoid any un-needed attention. He saw the small hut, where the wizard lived. He stopped his horse, and tied it up to a nearby sign post. He walked in, his sword sheathed. He saw the pale old man, sitting by the same pot as last time. The old man looked at him, and almost fell over. "W-w-w-w-w-w-w-what are you doing here?!" He cried. "I have a favor. I want to be human. And I wanna go home. My home isn't in Sebilis. My home is 300 years in the future." Chrono said quietly. The old man almost fell out of his chair. "300 years?!?!?!?!?!?!? How?!" "Well..let me explain..."

Chrono was in full armor, walking down an alley, heading back to the castle. He was staring at the ground. He was the best swordsman in the kingdom, and an excellent magic user as well, yet, he felt un happy. He was disgusted with the way the King treated his citizens. He had them work hard, with very little food, and many many died. He was so angry at him..He wanted out, there was a large kingom, Vetnarta, not too far, where the people were happy. The only problem was, there were almost no defences. Chrono would have gladly joined, but was forced to stay in his current kingdom, Kaalldaam. Chrono reached the end of the alley and began to turn onto the street, but, the princess, the king's only daughter, bumped into him. They each fell backwards. Chrono sprung to his feet, not knowing who had bumped into him. He helped her up, when he saw her face. She was beautiful. She thanked him, and he began to walk away. She asked him to stay with her, and they began walking, talking about the kingdom. They felt the same way about everything, and talked a long time.
They saw an empty barn, full of hay, and sat down and talked about the kingdom, and how she could improve it. They talked for many many hours, about everything. It was late at night now. They stared into each others eyes.. just looking awkwardly towards each other. She leaned over, and kissed Chrono. He kissed back, and they fell over into the hay, kissing each other. Before he knew it, it was morning, and he lay in the hay with her, his armor thrown off into a nearby stack of hay, and her gown lay beside it.. He began to rub his eyes, thinking about what happened. He began to tap her shoulder, when 3 knights walked in. His eyes widened, and theirs did the same. He grabbed his armor and slided it on quickly. He stood up, and the knights drew swords. "We're going to have to take you in. This is a deep deep crime. You'll probably hang for this. heh heh." Chrono knew it was no use to fight with them, and he was taken, and the princess was awoken, and taken to the castle.

Chrono was brought before the king, who was completely en-raged. "H-h-HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A DISPICABLE ACT?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!" The king yelled at the top of his lungs. Chrono tried to respond, but the king cut him off. "You shall not hang for this, you shall suffer a much worse fate!" The king called in his head magician, Prumeon, and told him what he wanted him to do. "I can do it your majesty." He answered. The king then spoke, to the crowd gathered to watch Chrono's punishment. "Chrono! For your crime, you shall pay dearly! You are hereby banished from this kingdom, forever, and sent to wander time itself, for all eternity!" Chrono lowered his head, and glanced at the princess, who was in tears. Prumeon chanted a few words, and Chrono slowly began to fade away. "I shall have my revenge!!" he yelled, before he faded out of reality.

He awoke in Sebilis, where the demons trained him, and made him one of their own. He learned demon magic, and began to hate the humans of this world. He learned of many places around this new world, and quickly became wanted, after frequent raiding trips on towns...

Chapter 6: Humanity

After Chrono finished telling his story, the wizard was absolutely horrified. "I can make you human again, but I'm afraid I can't send you home, I'm sorry." "Damnit.." "Well, I may just have a way. If you do something noble, you may just earn your ticket home." "And what the hell can I do that's noble?" Chrono asked. "Well, the demons are rallying their forces, and plan on attacking us soon, maybe you could defeat them, I'd say that's a noble thing." the wizard mumbled. "I guess I can try." "Good. But first you need to be human." The wizard chanted a few words, and Chrono changed, he felt human again. "Thank you so much Wizard." Chrono bowed, and walked out.

Chrono found a local inn, payed the inn keeper, and got straight to sleep. He had hardly rested the past few days. He slept for days, his last day replaying to himself over and over in his dreams. He awoke at night, 4 nights later, with a cold sweat running down his face. He stood up, and walked outside. He unsheathed his sword, and ran towards the exit of the town. He reached the entrance, and walked out into the forest. Awaiting him, was a demon. The demon had a flowing grey robe on, and was hovering a few feet off the ground. "Chrono, I have been sent to take care of you." the demon gleefully told his opponent.
Chrono drew his sword, and charged the demon. The demon dodged skillfully, and cast a spell. Chrono felt as if he were on fire, and fell to the ground. He picked himself up, and stuck his sword into the ground. "I'll show you how to cast a spell, you little bastard." Chrono threw up his hands, and yelled, "Hell Flare!!" A huge beam of light appeared, surrounding the demon. 12 meteor's fell towards it, all hitting, causing major damage. Then, the meteors flew backwards, away from the demon, and closed in again, exploding in a burst of red and black. When the dust cleared, the demon wasn't there anymore.. Chrono picked up his sword, and walked back to town.

Chapter 7: Good-Bye Blue Sky

Chrono spent days preparing for the demon assualt, preparing his mind and body for a bloody battle. One night, as he was just laying down for bed, he heard a scream.. He ran outside, and saw it, at least one hundred demons swarming all over the place. He saw a demon closing in on a woman, and many buildings ablaze. Near the center of town, there were a group of knights fighting a group of demons. At first, the knights were winning, but more and more demons joined in, quickly overpowering the knights. Chrono charged onto the scene, unsheathing The Light Breaker.

Chrono joined the fight, from behind the demons. He took a swing at a demon's back, and connected, basically disemboweling it. It fell to the ground, and slowly faded away. The demons were quickly alerted to Chrono's presence, and a few jumped him, and they fought for a few minutes. Chrono with his sword, the demons with their assorted axes, spears, and what-not. Chrono fought back, but was slowly overpowered. "Ah..crap.." Chrono muttered as he fell to one knee. He looked at the black demons, as they seemed to smother him. He pushed them all back, and began to charge a spell..

"Evil sword..Light Breaker..Cut Energy, Demon Blade!!" Chrono shouted, as his sword raised up from him, and began to flash. Chrono pushed the demons back and his sword came to him. He swung it around, as deep blue energy swung around in a large circle from the sword. Once he had enough energy, Chrono brought up the sword over his head, and the energy flew out from around Chrono, destroying some demons, hurting the others. Only the strongest demons had survived. They were busy with others, except for the leader demon.. "Chrono..Chrono.." He said, as he raised his demonic halberd towards him. "It's time to die.." Chrono shook his head, and brought up his sword.. All of a sudden, Chrono began to feel as if he was being ripped apart! "What the hell?!" He shouted, as he turned, and saw, the magician.. "You were so close to coming back Chrono, but I can't let that happen." The Magican raised his arms, and Chrono began to fade away. The demons then overpowered the knights..Chrono got one last look, as he faded away, hurled through time.

Chapter 8: Where the hell am I?

Chrono woke up to a large rumbling sound, it felt like an earthquake. He was in a ditch, as a huge tank roared over him, barely missing crushing him under it's huge treads. He stood up, as he saw the tank stop, and it spewed out fire over some firing machine guns at it. Chrono's eyes widened, as an infranty with red armor jumped into the ditch with Chrono. "Look at you fancy pants. Where's your armor? Nevermind, get a gun and start shooting at the G.D.I. bastards." The guy tossed a machine gun to Chrono, who looked over it, confused. He saw the guy pull the trigger, and it fired. So Chrono pointed the gun at one of the G.D.I soldiers, and fired. He luckily hit the soldier a few times, and he fell onto the ground, unmoving.
After the skirmish, Chrono was taken back to the barracks, where the soldiers were partying up. Chrono tapped one of them on the shoulder, and asked, "Where the hell am I? When the hell am I?" The soldier responded quietly, "You're in the year 2200, in the N.O.D. headquarters." "N.O.D.?" The soldier lowed his head, and said "We're fighting against the G.D.I., We want to rule the world, under Kane, our leader." "Er..right, do you know how I can go back home?" "Where is your home?" "Hm..about..1000 years in the past." The soldier widened his eyes, and muttered. "W-w-w-we plan on launching attack on a G.D.I. tech center, which is housing an expiremental time machine." Chrono shook his head. "Let's get going then."

The day of the surprise assault, there were subterranian APCs lined up, and soldiers filing into them. A few of those flame thower tanks were there too. Chrono shuffled into one of the APCs, and soon, the tanks burrowed underground. Chrono sat there with 4 others, fiddling with his gun. Minutes later, the APC's emerged right in the center of the G.D.I. base. Troops rushed out of the APCs, as the Devil's Tongues fried G.D.I. soldiers. Chrono saw a weird looking building, and began making his way to it. A grenadier threw 3 grenades at him, which sent him flying. He landed on the rocky ground, and slowly picked himself up. He looked at the grenadier, and fired a few rounds at his grenade belt, blowing him up. Chrono ran to the tech center, and shot his way in.

Inside, there were scientists running around crazily. Chrono shot anyone who got in his way, until he saw a weird machine, that looked like it. "This is it, I can finally go home!!" Chrono pushed his way in, and began fiddling with the controls. He set it to his own time period, and was ready to blast off, when.. He saw him. It was the Magician, outside the time machine, with a control device. The Magician cackled, as he pushed the button, sending Chrono through time again...Will it ever end?
