THE EMBRACE

_______________________________________________________________

This section will describe how a human(Mortal) is turned into a Vampire.

_______________________________________________________________

To make it simple (as it has been requested that I must) the Embrace is the act in which a mortal becomes a vampire. Before I
begin explaining how this works I ask you to forget any fiction-induced notions that anyone that a kindred feeds from also
becomes kindred . This is not the way that the Embrace works, if it was- the planet would be entirely overrun by kindred by
now!"

As a rule, a vampire may not create a childe without the permission of her own sire or Elder. This is not given without good
reason most kindred do not usually squander the opportunity to Embrace by using the gift unwisely.

Kindred do not generally Embrace without having a good reason. The number one reason is simply  loneliness, other times it
could be revenge, admiration or desire, or just the will to dominate a particular mortal that drives the sire in question.

Also, not every mortal has the characteristics or traits that would allow him to survive as a kindred. Often the newly made childe
will die in the first following years if his sire has made an oversight of judgment. Obviously one does not wish one's own childer
to die- so it must to be carefully thought about.

The act of Embrace is really very simple. Firstly the vampire will feed from her victim and drain her, as the vampire's feeding
often causes a feeling of elation in mortals, not many resist past this point.

Once the vampire has drained all of the blood from the body of her childe-to-be she will place some of her own blood into the
mouth of the childe.

The method favored is to allow the childe to drink from the wrist, some other vampires will prick a finger or thumb or rarely
allow their childe to drink from their throat. The blood must come from the vampires own body, blood within containers or
bottles does not contain enough potency to ensure the act.

After this the mortal body dies, physically, and in spirit. This can be painful and difficult to watch , Most take no whim in
observing a childe in anguish . After the moment of death the childe awakes a kindred and the embrace is complete.

I have heard that the Sabbat bury their young after embrace- not only must the Sabbat childe die in pain, but then must endure
the further suffering of crawling out of his own grave to rise as a kindred.

After the Embrace is complete the newly born childe will often be tired and wish to sleep. How long they rest various from childe
to childe. When the childe awakens she will be consumed with an overwhelming urge called The Hunger.

If he is not provided with with blood by his sire, he will literally go and drain the first kindred or mortal he encounters. it's not
advisable to allow this to happen, in the event that the Masquerade will be compromised or another clan or kindred offended or
harmed by one's childe.

Some sires will provide a mortal for her childe to feed from, others will allow the childe to consume their own vitae to re-enforce
the bond and satiate the Hunger more effectively."

At any rate it is the duty of the sire to educate her childe in kindred ways, though some openly flout these responsibilities.
Education is not normally formal and many sires are prone to jealous fits of rage and underhanded conspiracies- using their
childer as pawns. It is for this reason that often only the strong or fortunate are able to survive as kindred.
