Magus' Quest
Prologue

The chilling wind blows through his long purple hair and tosses his obsidian black cloak behind him as he stands atop the highest peak of the Denadoro mountains, he narrows his eyes as a gust strong enough to break a live oak tree buffets him, but still he remains unmoving, like the mountain he stands upon. Silent, forbidding, awe-inspiring.
He opens his eyes just in time to see the small moving point of light against the darkening horizon, the silver light he had only seen once before. The piercing, almost holy light emitted by the time machine Epoch as it prepares to jump through the ethers of time.
"So, looks like they've decided to take on another adventure." He whispers to himself as the silver light flares then turns into a bright beam and then vanishes. "I would go with you, if just to settle the score between us Chrono, but first I have more pressing matters."
He holds up the small, odd looking key connected to a chain about his neck, and again he can hear the high pitched, slightly nasal voice of the girl genius Lucca who invented the key he holds.
"Now remember Magus." She had said to him before they both went to Leene Square to hold a farewell party for all of the wayward travellers in the mad adventure against Lavos. "Even though I calibrated the key to access Gates from long distances, if there isn't one within 5 miles of your position you won't be going anywhere."
"I'll be sure to remember, but I thought that since Lavos was destroyed, the Gates closed." He asked as he put the small golden chain the key was attached to around his neck.
"Ha! Oh please Magus, you think that would stop a genius like me?" She chuckled raising a single eyebrow. "So you're really that dead set on finding Schala huh?"
"Of course, she's all I have now, now that mother is dead and there is no Zeal to go back to." He replied and turned to leave
"What about Chrono?" She asked him suddenly, and that stopped him in his tracks. "I know you're not the kind of guy to let a your arch-nemisis go so easily."
"I'll take care of him after I find my sister, and this time he won't have you, Marle, or Glenn to back him up." He grined evilly
"You just remember, though he may not have the eyes for me, I still love the big lug, so if you kill him, don't tell me about it." She whispered, lowering her head, but Magus' keen hearing picked up her words
"If he dies, you'll know it was me anyway" He replied, before bowing and leaving her room.
"You'll know it was me." Magus repeats to himself as he lifts off of the mountain peak and flies into the starry sky, searching for the closest gate out of 600 A.D.
"Schala, I will find you, and then Chrono, and I will settle things. . . .once and for all!"
