A blade of steel
Forged in the flame.
Hammer pounding metal,
The soul imbedded.
The razor edge
Reflecting the moonlight.
The blade is hidden,
Hilt meeting sheath.
Daylight comes
And spills across the land
Yet the katana
Does not shine silver.
Instead it shines scarlet,
Same as it’s master,
As the blade cuts through flesh
Thrill coursing through his hands.
Death fills the other man
As life flows from his chest.
Forgiveness and revenge
Plague his mind.
The katana stands alone
Amongst the bloody field.
The katana stands alone,
But is not finished.
The blade turned around
As it lowered to the ground
And took one last life,
The life of it’s master.
CD
I ruined your CD
And I am sorry.
No more annoying boy bands
To desecrate this house.
I ruined your CD
And I am sorry.
Can you forgive me
For sparring my ears?
Storm
The ominous sky
Casts itself against the hills
Waiting to strike down.
Lone Leaf
The lone golden leaf
Hangs onto the tree for life
Avoiding it’s death.
Illusions
I lay in my cool as sleep descends upon me.
One moment I’m watching TV,
The next I’m walking along a chain link fence.
I take in the scenery, trying to recognize the site,
But I cannot make it out.
Eventually I stumble upon a man sitting on a bench.
I asked him "Where am I?"
But he did not respond.
After a minute of silence, I continued on, ignoring the man.
I came to the crosswalk and looked all six ways
Before stepping out onto the tan paved street.
The next thing I know,
I’m staring into the blinding headlights,
Frozen by fear, eyes widened.
I close my eyes and put my hands up, bracing for impact,
But find nothing.
I look around the black void, trying to find some source of hope
But my hopes are diminished as there is none.
I feel around blindly, trying to find a light switch.
But instead find a cool, scaly hand.
It grasps my arm as I scream in terror, trying to flee from the unseen horror.
Then comes a hiss right next to my ear,
Then a reptilian chuckle followed as the jagged teeth were revealed,
I look into the open jaw, knowing the end is near.
When suddenly I find myself in my bed, my body wrangled with fear.
I sit up in the darkness, the moonlight attempting to spill in
And breathe a sigh of relief
As I find myself safe at home.
