Holy Knight
Used by Agrias, Delita (after chapter one), and Wiegraf.
The Holy Knight is the most popular special job class in the first three chapters, and not just because a lot of characters use this. A Holy Knight is valuable in almost any battle, because they are able to do quite a lot of damage, have a relatively longer range than any knight, have 100% hit rates, and no charge time. Since Agrias is the only one that will come under your control, be sure not to lose her.
When you can, learn Lightning Stab and Holy Explosion (in that order). These will be your most used attacks. Crush Punch is good because it may instantly kill an enemy, but it really never occurs when you'd like it to, so it's better to not take the risk and use a more damaging attack instead. Also, watch for the range and effect ranges, because they vary for all attacks, you may find yourself in a situation where something may not work even though you'd think it might.
Command: Holy Sword
Name | Jp | Effects |
Statis Sword | ? | Range: 2. Effect: 2-Vertical 0. Holy elemental. Add: Stop |
Split Punch | 300 | Range: 3-Vertical 2. Effect: 1. Holy elemental. Add: Death Sentence |
Crush Punch | 500 | Range: 3-Vertical 1. Effect: 1. Holy elemental. Add: Dead |
Lightning Stab | 700 | Range: 3. Effect: 2-Vertical 1. Lightning elemental. Add: Silence |
Holy Explosion | 800 | Range: 4 directions. Effect: 5-vertical 2. Holy elemental. Add: Confusion |
Black Knight
Used by Gafgarion.
In my opinion, not better than a Holy Knight. However, he comes into your party in Chapter Two for a short while and is pretty valuable, although the computer controls him. Then he betrays you later and you'll have to fight him and his special skills. Ouch. You might want him to learn these skills so he helps you, but before the battle where he betrays you, unequip him of everything. He is useless without a sword. The skill list is currently incomplete.
Name | Jp | Effects |
Dark Sword | 500 | Absorbs MP with the power of darkness. Range: 3. Effect: 1. Darkness elemental |
Night Sword | 200 | Absorbs HP with the power of darkness. Range: 3. Effect: 1. Darkness elemental |
Princess
Used by Princess Ovelia.
You wouldn't think a princess would have any special skills, but this one certainly does. She remains in your party for a short while during Chapter Two (after Gafgarion leaves) but is controlled by the computer. Being in a monastery all her life, Ovelia knows primarily healing spells (she has indentical skills to Alma's Cleric job). Like with all Priests-like jobs, keep her out of direct battle if possible.
Command: (unknown)

Name | MP | SP | Jp | Effects |
Mbarrier | 30 | 25 | ? | Magic provides various protection. Range: 5. Effect: 1. Add: Reraise, Regen, Protect, Shell, Haste |
Deathspell 2 | 20 | 25 | ? | Magic restores abnormal status with holy light wave. Range: 4. Effect: 1. Cancel: Petrify, Confusion, Silence, Blood Suck, Frog, Poison, Stop, Sleep, Don't Move, Don't Act |
Wish | 0 | 0 | ? | Offer one's own HP to the spirits, wishing to restore the target's HP by double that amount. Range: 1 Vertical 3. Effect: 1. |
Engineer
Used by Mustadio, Balk (chapter 4).
Engineers have this special weapon called a "gun" that you can magically shoot "bullets" out of. (That's what Agrias and Ramza thought. I'm not kidding.) Mustadio is therefore cool for being a very long range user with 100% chance of hitting, but only for about three story battles because Chemists are suddenly allowed to use the exact same weapon later. His unique Snipe skills are useful, but usually only have about 50% chance of working. The range of these skills depend on your weapon and can only be used on one enemy, assuming the bullet hits.
Command: Snipe
Equipable Items: Guns
Name | Jp | Effects |
Leg Aim | ? | Damages enemy's legs making it impossible to move. Add: Don't Move |
Arm Aim | ? | Damages enemy's arms making it impossible to use weapons or cast spells. Add: Don't Act |
Seal Evil | 200 | Petrifies the cursed Undead, turning it to stone. Add: Petrify |
Astrologer
Used by Olan Durai.
You'll first meet Olan early in chapter three where he'll be a great help to you in a certain battle. While his skills would be of great help elsewhere, this is the only chance you'll be able to see him in action. Right now, his skill list is incomplete.
Name | MP | SP | Jp | Effects |
Galaxy Stop | ? | ? | ? | [adds effects to all enemies. may miss.] Add: Stop, Don't Act, Don't Move |
Cleric
Used by Alma, Ramza' sister.
Clerics are like most spellcasters in that they don't have much power or health, but have some pretty good spells. The problem is, none of them are meant to do any damage but to protect someone. Alma will basically risk her life to protect her brother in battle, but don't worry, she won't permanently die.
According to rumor, it is an unlikely but possible occurrence that Alma may survive and learn the Ultima spell in the final battle of the game. (Ramza is currently the only known playable character who can learn this spell.)
Command: Holy Magic
Equipable Items: Staves, Hats, Clothes, Robes
Name | MP | SP | Jp | Effects |

Deathspell 2 | 20 | 25 | ? | Magic restores abnormal status with holy light wave. Range: 4. Effect: 1. Cancel: Petrify, Confusion, Silence, Blood Suck, Frog, Poison, Stop, Sleep, Don't Move, Don't Act |
Wish | 0 | 0 | ? | Offer one's own HP to the spirits, wishing to restore the target's HP by double that amount. Range: 1 Vertical 3. Effect: 1. |
Holy Priest
Used by Zalmo, Holy Examiner of the Glabados Church.
The Holy Priest is nothing more than a Priest with slightly more powerful spells, more health, and more mana. But remember: He's only a Priest. He's not any faster at casting spells, and has little physical attacks to speak of. You'd do better to focus your time and energy on the Knights and other people who back him up, leaving him defenseless... unless you've got the power to kill him -- and kill him fast, before he heals himself right back up again. Right now, the list is assumed incomplete because you cannot access his ability list.
Command: White-aid
Equipable Items: Rod, Hats, Robes
Name | MP | Jp | Effects |
Cure 2 | 16 | ? | Restores HP. |
Cure 3 | 10 | ? | Restores HP. |
Esuna | 18 | ? | Cures abnormal status. |
Arc Knight
Used by the Marquis Elmdor of Limberry, and Zalbag, Ramza's brother.
Not much is known about the Arc Knight. Elmdor and Zalbag never come under your control at all, but Zalbag joins your party as a computer-controlled guest in the battle against Dycedarg.
It seems that Zalbag also has Counter (a Monk skill) and Concentrate (an Archer skill). It is unknown if this this is true for all Arc Knight job classes.
Command: Destroy Sword
Name | MP | SP | Jp | Effects |
Magic Ruin | 20 | 34 | ? | Reduces enemy's magic power. Range: 4. Effect: 2. |
Speed Ruin | 20 | 34 | ? | Destroys enemy's agility. Lowers speed value. Range: 4. Effect: 2. |

Mind Ruin | 20 | 34 | ? | Destroys enemy's magic attack power. Lowers AT magic value. Range: 4. Effect: 2. |
Assassin
Used by Celia and Lede, Elmdor's henchwomen.
You will hate these with a passion. You will also wish you could have the Assassin job skill. Too bad you can't and you never will. Not much is known about Assassins.
The skill Ultima can be learned by Ramza (and only him) if he is a Squire as has the Monster Skill ability equipped.
Command: Use Hand
Name | Jp | Effects |
Stop Bracelet | ? | [instant death.] Range: 1. Add: Dead |
Ultima | ? | [powerful non-elemental attack.] Details unknown. |
Heaven Knight
Used by Rafa.
Rafa joins your party in Chapter Three as a guest but will fully be under your control at the start of Chapter Four. Each of her skills will attack randomly in its effect range, meaning it might hit multiple times, only once, or not at all. It's pretty annoying and makes her a lot less useful than she could be. All her skills have a range of 4 and an effect range of 2-vertical 3.
Command: Truth
Equipable Items: Sticks, Staves, Hats, Robes, Clothes
Name | SP | Jp | Effects |
Heaven Thunder | 34 | ? | Lightning elemental |
Asura | 25 | 200 | Fire elemental |

Space Storage | 20 | 500 | Add: Darkness, Confusion, Silence, Frog, Poison, Slow, Sleep |
Sky Demon | 15 | 600 | Earth elemental |
Hell Knight
Used by Malak, Rafa's brother.
Malak joins your party and is under your control at the start of Chapter Four, along with Rafa. He is the exact opposing balance to Rafa, kind of like the Yin-Yang idea. However, the difference lies only in name, as every one of his skills is exactly the same as Rafa's.
Command: Un-truth
Equipable Items: Sticks, Staves, Hats, Robes, Clothes
Name | SP | Jp | Effects |
Heaven Bltback | 34 | ? | Lightning elemental |
Asura Back | 25 | 200 | Fire elemental |

Sky Demon Back | 15 | 600 | Earth elemental |
Divine Knight
Used by Meliadoul, Izlude's sister (chapter 4).
If you thought you couldn't get better than a Holy Knight, think again. Divine Knights are more powerful, being of higher rank and directly associated with the High Priest. The first time you meet Meliadoul she is the enemy and you'll have to watch out for those attacks. One Shellbust Stab and your armor breaks automatically... not a good thing. However, she will most likely not use the other skills on you (whew).
Later she offers to join your party. You can accept her or reject her - it's optional - but it's probably a good idea to have someone like this on your side. Note that her abilities work only if the enemy has something to break - so she can only use a regular attack or other job skills if you are fighting monsters.
Command: Mighty Sword
Name | Jp | Effects |
Shellbust Stab | 200 | Destroys the target's equipped armor. Range: 3. Effect: 1 |
Blastar Punch | 400 | Destroys the target's equipped helmet. Range: 3. Effect: 1 |
Hellcry Punch | 500 | Destroys the target's equipped weapon. Range: 3. Effect: 1 |
Icewolf Bite | 800 | Destroys the target's equipped accessory. Range: 3. Effect: 1 |
Holy Swordsman
Used by Orlandu, also known as Thundergod "T.G." Cid.
The Holy Swordsman comes up near the middle of Chapter Four, and becomes the new most popular special class. It has all the advantages of the special Knights: damaging attacks, lots of health, 100% chance to hit, no charge time... but not only that, it has all the skills of the Holy Knight, Divine Knight, and Black Knight rolled into one. Once you have Orlandu, you may think that you don't need Agrias anymore, but you can still use all the special Knights you can get.
Orlandu also does make the game a lot, lot easier. But who's complaining?
Command: All Swordskill
Name | Jp | Effects |
Statis Sword | ? | Range: 2. Effect: 2-Vertical 0. Holy elemental. Add: Stop |

Night Sword | ? | Absorbs HP with the power of darkness. Range: 3. Effect: 1. Darkness elemental |
Apanda
Used by the Apanda demons who are backup for Celia and Lede.
This job skill is odd that in that it is actually used by a monster. We're not sure why, but it is. Perhaps making them like humans would give them some sort of an advantage that being a monster wouldn't. At any rate, we don't know what these advantages are, but it's still a job skill, so here's the info.
Apparently, you will have a chance to get one of these guys in your party upon completion of the Deep Dungeon. His name is usually Byblos.
Command: Bio
Equipable Items: (none)
Name | Jp | Effects |
Bio | ? | [no charge time] |
Bio2 | ? | Add: Petrify |
Bio3 | ? | Effect: 2-Vertical 2 (approx) |
Lune Knight
Used by Dycedarg, leader of the Hokuten Knights and Ramza's corrupt older brother.
Dycedarg never comes under your control, being an enemy unit. He currently has only two skills that we are aware of: Shellbust Stab from Divine Knight and Stasis Sword from Holy Knight. We've drawn the conclusion that the Lune Knight is higher than either the Divine and the Holy, and has skills of both classes. However, Dycedarg probably does not have the sword skills from other Knight classes.
Command: Sword Skill
Name | Jp | Effects |
Statis Sword | ? | Range: 2. Effect: 2-Vertical 0. Holy elemental. Add: Stop |
Shellbust Stab | 200 | Destroys the target's equipped armor. Range: 3. Effect: 1 |
Temple Knight
Used by Beowulf.
You have the option to have Beowulf in your party late in the game, near the end of Chapter Four. He's got many similar spells to the Oracle, with quite a few new useful ones of his own. One of his best abilities is Shock!, which does the same amount of damage as the amount of health he's lost to any opponent in a nine-square range. Be sure to get it ASAP.
The speed of all of the Temple Knight's spells are zero. They happen automatically, with no charge time involved. Also, all abilities have a Range of 4 and Effect Range of 1 (except Shock!).
Command: Magic Sword
Name | MP | Jp | Effects |
Blind | 6 | ? | Magic sword blinds enemy with darkness, lowering success percent of direct attacks. Add: Darkness |
Aspel | 2 | 100 | Magic sword absorbs enemy's MP, restoring its own. |
Drain | 12 | 180 | Magic sword absorbs enemy's HP, restoring its own. |
Faith | 10 | 200 | Magic sword fills the soul with a huge amount of faith. Add: Faith |
Innocent | 10 | 200 | Magic sword makes enemy disrespectful and not beleive in God. Add: Innocent |
Zombie | 14 | 150 | Magic sword brings bodily death. Unable to restore HP. Add: Undead |
Silence | 16 | 90 | Magic sword mutes enemy, making it impossible to cast spells. Add: Silence |

Don't Act | 14 | ? | Magic sword limits movements making enemy unable to act. Add: Don't Act |
Sleep | 20 | 170 | Magic sword disrupts hearbeat, immediately putting enemy asleep. Add: Sleep |
Break | 24 | 300 | Magic sword alters body turning enemy into stone. Add: Petrify |
Shock! | 20 | 600 | The more damage you receive, the more damage you can inflict. Range: 9 |
Steel Giant
Used by Worker 8, which you can control, and Worker 7, an enemy.
Steel Giants make their appearance near the end of the game. What makes them unique from other special classes is that other than their special abilities, they have nothing else. You cannot make them into other jobs. Think about it -- would a robot be a Monk or a Wizard? Not likely. Therefore you can't equip them nor change their commands. Also, they cannot cast magic (zero Faith) nor can they be the target of magic spells.
But Steel Giants are very powerful. All their skills come learned automatically, and there is no use for learning JP with a Steel Giant. So all his attacks are immediately at your disposal. Some do very much damage and others over a very far range, but the downside is that with each attack the Steel Giant also loses some health. Luckily, you can cure him with Potions and such, but not with Cure spells. (Note that the abilities sound better than they actually are.)
Command: Work
Name | Effects |
Destroy | Top priority command. Destroys its target. Range: 1-Vertical 2. Effect: 1 |
Compress | Top priority command. Compresses its target. Range: 1-Vertical 2. Effect: 1. Add: Dead |
Dispose | Team work command. Disposes of all enemies at once. Range: 8. Effect: 1 |
Crush | Special work command. Crushes target. Range: 1-Vertical 0. Effect: 1 |
Holy Dragon
Used by Reis, whom you can control late in Chapter Four.
Like Steel Giants, Holy Dragons cannot switch jobs, cannot earn JP, cannot learn abilities, cannot equip items, and cannot cast spells. (Although they can be targeted by spells, right?) All of Reis's attacks are learned automatically. They are basically a combination of all the skills of the other dragons you may fight as enemies.
Later in Chapter Four, upon reaching a certain story battle, Reis is transformed into human form. Her job changes to Dragoner and gets a bunch of new skills. This is covered in the next job skill below.
Command: Breath
Name | Effects |
Ice Bracelet | Attacks enemy with arctic breath. Range: 2, 4 directions. Ice elemental |
Fire Bracelet | Attacks enemy with fire breath. Range: 2, 4 directions. Fire elemental |
Thnder Brcelet | Attacks enemy with thunder breath. Range: 2, 4 directions. Thunder elemental |
Dragoner
Used by Reis (in human form only).
Late in Chapter Four, the holy dragon Reis, as it turns out, used to be human. The transformation occurs after defeating Worker 7 in the Nelveska Temple battle. The zodiac stone (Cancer) that is contained within the steel giant is used by Beowulf to return Reis, his former lover, to human form. For this story to unfold, it is required that you have both Beowulf and Reis in your party up to this point.
As a Dragoner, Reis has all the skills from her old Holy Dragon job class and more. For the most part, her additional skills consist of inviting dragons into the party and boosting their stats. While she is not a well rounded character to use effectively, she is extremely good with dragons (if you come across any levels in the Deep Dungeon that are filled with dragons, the entire battle is over quick as you invite them all into your party) and her HP is very high (even higher than Orlandu's). Depending on what you use her for, she can be very helpful, or quite useless.
Command: (unknown)
Equipable Items: Bags, Ribbons, Perfumes
Name | Jp | Effects |
