FF1 Tips

-In this section I'll give you a few little tips and tricks on certain things during the game.

-Level Up: Leveling up is essential in FF1. If the game is getting difficult at any time fight some enemies in the area to go up a few levels. This may take some time, but it's well worth it. Leveling up strengthens your characters, making the game easier. It also gives you some valuable money as well.

-Party order: The order of your party matters. The person on the top of the screen will receive many more blows than those below him. Put your characters with the strongest armor in the very front and keep your mages and weaker characters to the back.

-HEALS: By the middle of the game or so, carrying around HEAL potions may just seem pointless, but they can come in very handy. Carrying around 99 HEALS can help you a lot in major dungeons. Especially when your mages' magic starts to run low.

-Elements: Many enemies during the game are elemental enemies. Against these enemies, certain magic can deal a much larger blow than normal. Use fire magic against ice enemies, and use ice magic against fire enemies. I know that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it works. Also, use LIT magic against water enemies for heavy damage.

-The undead: Undead creatures can be handled very easily if you know what to do. Harm and fire magic work extremely well against undead creatures. Use harm and fire against undead creatures for a quick win.

-Planning: A flaw in FF1 is that if one character attacks and kills an enemy, and then another character has choose to hit that one, he'll simply swing at air and the message ineffective will appear. Magic does the same thing. To get around this plan out your attacks. If you know that one of your characters can easily kill an enemy then don't have another character attack the one that he is. Spread out your attacks, so you don't waste any.

-Running: Running from battles can help you make your way through a dungeon significantley. But, you shouldn't run away too much. Only run from battles when you have too(Low on HP). Running too much will leave you without necessary EXP and G that you need.

-Saving: Save every chance that you get. You never know what's coming up ahead. Even when you think that you have no chance of dying, you can very easily. Once you've played for 2 hours straight and then died by having your whole party stoned to death and realize that you'll have to do the whole thing over again, you'll understand.

-EXP gaining: When gaining experience make sure that you choose your spots. Choose enemies that are fairly easy and give you a large amount of experience. The eye in the ice cave is a good example. Large groups that you can knock out with one spell are also good.

-Prorings: Prorings are essential equipment in FF1. They protect against one hit kill moves such as RUB and XXXX. They are sold in Gaia for 20000G. Get one for each of your characters and keep it on them for the entire game, no hand/arm armor beats the proring.
