FF2 Statistics

-I will be using this picture of the status screen to explain what the numbers mean and how to increase them.

HP- This is the HP gauge, current and maximum HP is shown. Max HP usually increases when more than 1/2 of max HP is lost in a battle.

MP- This is the MP gauge, current and maximum HP is shown. Similar to max HP, max MP will usually increase when more than 1/2 max MP is lost in battle.

Power- Power determines the amount of physical attack damage that a character can do. To increase it attack several times in a battle (5+ usually works). Carrying good armor usually works to increase it as well.

Agility- Agility determines how fast a character goes in battle as well as evasion skills and the chance of escaping battle. Evading attacks will raise it(a good shield will help). Also, try to escape from battles, failing and then winning the battle will often times raise agility.

Vitality- Stat shows how much max HP increases when it does so. To increase it simply lose a ton of power in battle.

Intelligence- This is a measure of the power of black magic. The higher the intelligence stat is, the more damage black magic will do. It also affects how much MP that will be gained when maximum MP rises (along with Soul). Also, it can be lowered by attacking frequently. To increase it simply cast a lot of black magic in battle (5+).

Soul- Measure of white magic strength. Along with Intelligence this also affects how much MP that will be gained when it goes up. To increase it simply use a lot of white magic in battle (5+). It also sometimes increases with a cane weapon level up.

-The following stats are not influenced by what actions in battle and cannot be increased in the way the preceeding stats were. They basically go up when the stats that directly affect them go up.

Defense- How much damage that will be taken from enemies is affected by this stat. As armor strength increases, the defense stat increases.

Attack- How much damage physical attacks will do to enemies. This is affected by weapon strength and by your power statistic.

Hit %- The first number represents the maximum amount of times the enemy can be hit, the second number shows the chance of each of these hits connecting. This is directly related to thecharacter's weapon skill with the weapon they are using.

Evade %- The chance of evading an attack is determined by this stat. The first number is the maximum amount of attacks that can be evaded and the second is the chance of evading each of these attacks. This is directly related to equipped shield strength and shield skill.

Magic Power- This is a measure of how effective magic is. It is directly related to intelligence and soul.

Magic Defense- Measures the ability to avoid black magic attacks. The first number is the maximum amount of magic attacks that can be evaded, the second is the chance of evading them. It is affected by vitality and magic power.

Weapon Skill- The first number is the maximum amount of hits that a weapon can inflict, the second is the amount of experience that the weapon currently has. (Once it gets to 100 it goes up a level.) Each level it goes up a character can do one more hit per attack. This is the same for all of the skills except the shield. If a shield is equipped, the shield will go up at the same rate as the weapon.
