I. Phin Catacombs- B1

-These are Phin's Catacombs. The enemies aren't too difficult but they can start to wear you down after a while. Don't be too concerned though, there is no boss that you save to worry about saving MP and such for. Most floors have an enemy or group of enemies that you'll have to fight in every random battle. This floor has revenants, ghasts, wraiths, and stunners. Nothing to worry about.
-From the start you'll probably want to head north. The door to the south is empty and the path to the southeast simply contains this knife. It's not nearly worth the trip.
-Heading north you'll come to yet another pointless treasure. Don't bother with the eyedrop and continue on the path.
-You can head straight down the stairs at this point. The little path heading down only leads you to another worthless treasure, clothes.
II. Basement 2

-The 2nd basement is inhabited by changers, brains, and suckers. Again, nothing to worry about. Head west from the stairs, this treasure contains only a potion.
-There is nothing worth getting on this floor. To the west the door is empty and the treasure chest contains only another potion. The path that leads above this door contains merely a maidkiss. Take the path northeast from here.
-Believe or not the door is also an empty room so simply head down the stairs to basement 3. Don't worry, better treasure is coming.
III. Basement 3

-The enemy on the 3rd basement is the mantis. They are pretty tough with 750 HP. Use up your ice magic against them for easy wins.
-To make things easy all the doors on this floor are empty rooms so don't bother with any of them. Instead, head to the very southwest corner of the floor. (The southeast corner has a potion treasure chest so don't even bother.)
-The flame shield is the treasure. It is basically the same thing as the ice shield except for the fact that it protects against ice instead of fire. Now head north into the northwest corner.
-In the northwest corner you'll find the stairs, but there's also this thread. The thread casts slow9 on all enemies in battle. Now head down the stairs to basement 4.
IV. Basement 4

-Basement 4 is inhabited by adamantis, grogres, wzogres, and columns, not as tough as the mantis'. All of the doors on the floor are also empty. Start by heading north to the top and then heading east to get a treasure the blood sword. Although not very useful now it will be later on. I recommend equiping it as an item on Frioniel, Maria, or Guy. (It is guarded by some undead creatures but they're no problem.)
-Now head on southeast on the path until you reach this intersection. Head up and there are 3 more paths.
-Two of these paths lead to doors to empty rooms and the easternmost has some flame armor. Equip it on Frioniel right away, it's the best armor to this point in the game. After this head back and head to the southeast corner of the floor.
-In this corner you'll find a fang treasure. The fang casts chrm16 on all enemies and can be pretty effective in random battles. Now head down the stairs to the next floor.
V. Basement 5

-Basement 5 is occupied by perhaps the most annoying fight of all columns. Although not that tough you fight them in large groups which can get quite annoying. This floor is also quite large and only has one treasure. To get it head east until you reach this point, then head north.
-The path splits into two, take the western one to reach this orhacon dagger, a great weapon for Layla. However, it's guarded by 3 gchimeras.
-They are only slightly tougher than the chimeras that you fought back in Dist so don't be worried. They have 750 HP so hit them one by one again. Don't take them too lightly though, make sure you keep your HP up just in case.
-Now head north and head over to the northeast corner of the floor. There's an area with six doors. The door I'm standing in front of is the right door. (The others have nothing so don't even bother.)
-Inside of the door you'll find what you came for, the white mask. Now that you have this you can leave. Step on the teleporter north of the treasure to exit the Catacombs.
VI. On to Mysidia

-Now head back and have a talk with Gordon and Hilda. Gordon informs you that the Emperor must be planning something because he has been inactive lately.
-So, where to next? Hilda has the answer. She tells you to take the white mask to Mysidia, so do just that. It's time to head to back Mysidia.
