OVERVIEW: Now that two of the three required items have been collected it's time to get the third, the crystal rod. After getting the crystal rod it's time to head to Mysidia Tower to get Ultima.
I. On to Mysidia Cave
-Back in Mysidia you'll learn that the third item that you will need is the crystal rod. And that it's located in a cave east of Mysidia. So when you're ready head out, it's a fairly short walk from Mysidia.
| |
-Before you leave make sure that you have either the spell Heal up to level 5 or that you take along a few G.Needles. These are the only two ways that the status effect stone can be cured and some of the enemies in Mysidia Cave can turn your characters to stone. You may also wish to raise your max MP to about 150 especially on Maria because you will need a lot of magic. Once you're ready head east, this is the location of the cave.
-You'll have to curl along the mountain range to get to the cave but it's not that long or hard of a walk. This is Mysidia Cave, save and head in.

II. Basement 1
-You will run into a lot of puddings and mallows throughout the cave. Use fire on puddings and bolt on mallows. This will start to wear your MP down so use it cautiously.
-You will also run into a lot of coctrices in the cave. They have the ability to turn your characters to stone. This condition can only be cured with a G.Needle or Heal5.
| |
-There's some really pointless treasure in Mysidia Cave but the treasure on this first floor is actually really good. Just south of the entrance is this black armor, it's the best armor to this point in the game.
-In the west there's a goldpin helmet which is also the best to this point in the game, equip it right away. Then head to the southwest corner of the floor.
| |
-In the corner you'll find a doppelganger (clone) of Frioniel. To get by it you'll have to place the black mask on it.
-After putting the black on the doppelganger you'll be able to pass to get down to the second floor.
| |
III. Basement 2
-The treasure on this floor is pretty bad so it's a good idea to simply head to the next floor. The door containing the stairs is in the southwest corner again.
-If for some reason you do feel the need to get the treasure on this floor there is a power cane to the north of the stairs. It is the strongest cane in the game to this point, not that that means anything.
| |
-To get to the flame javelin in the northeast you'll have to walk through the wall here. The flame javelin is the strongest javelin in the game to this point, but again, it doesn't really matter. Money is now pointless in the game. Mysidia is the last town in the game so there isn't much anything left to buy. Therefore, getting these treasures just to sell them is kind of stupid.
-Now head to the southwest corner of the floor. This is the door that contains the stairs to the third floor.
| |
IV. Basement 3
-By this point you'll probably start facing battles like this one. These fights are tricky because the R.Souls and Souls are healed by magic and Mallows and Puddings need to be hit by magic.
-This is the third floor, the treasure here is even worse than it was on the last floor. But, the path to the stairs is fairly long. To get there head to the southeast corner of the floor and then head west along the bottom of the floor.
| |
-If you feel the need to pick up another ice bow it's to the west of the stairs and you'll have to head through the wall here to get to it.
-Head to the southeast corner of the floor and you'll come to this treasure containing a ogre axe. It's guarded by an easy Bomb fight.
| |
-Head west along the bottom of the floor. Skip the first door and take this door to get to the next floor.
V. Basement 4
-The fourth floor is a long winding path. The treasure here also is no good except for a G.Needle that you can use to cure stone which you might need by this point.
| |
-Eventually you will come to this fork in the path. Head left, right is a dead end. You will then come to a treasure that contains a mighty potion.
-Next is this set of three doors, take the center one, the side ones are both dead ends.
| |
-The treasures contain a SilentB (Mute16 on all enemies), a FenixDn, and a G.Needle. Head back out and go down to the southeast corner to the next set of stairs.
-This door leads down to the fifth and final floor.
| |
VI. Basement 5
-Right at the bottom of the stairs is a drain spell. Drain is a decent spell, it drains HP from enemies. However, it is only real potent at higher levels. Unfortuantely the fifth floor is even longer than the fourth floor was.
-You'll then come to this boxed in section with 5 treasures in it. The treasure in here is (suprisingly) worthless but if you want it the way in is right here.
| |
-There's a mini spell and four potions in this section. The mini spell rarely works so don't even bother.
-This floor is a very straightforward path and it leads to this door.
| |
-Inside is another Drain spell and an Aspil spell (Drains MP from enemies). Also is the Crystal Rod at last. Use exit and head back to Mysidia. It's time to go to Mysidia Tower.
