Part 3 - Four New Towns

V. Salmando

Maps

-Palm
-Poft
-Bofsk
-Salmando

OVERVIEW: Visit the towns of Palm, Poft, Bofsk, and Salmando. Bofsk and Salmando have been taken over by the Empire and the peoples of Palm and Poft are worried about it happening in their city. You can gain valuable info at all of the cities but your main destination is to Salmando to meet Josef, he will tell you about the Semite Cave.

I. Where to next?

-So where are Salmando and Josef? A man in Altea has some info that can help. He tells you that you can take a ship from Palm to Poft and then walk north to Salmando. So where is Palm you ask?
-Palm actually isn't that far from Altea. Head north from Altea and head into the lake with your new canoe. One thing nice about the canoe besides being able to go across rivers and lakes is that there are no random battles on it either.
II. Palm

-This is the town of Palm. Palm offers new magic, new armor, and a few new weapons. Note: There are many towns that you will visit soon, I highly recommend buying no armor at any of these towns. Instead I suggest that you spend your money on various magic spells that are much more valuable and that are also expensive. As far as weapons are concerned Palm is fairly weak in this aspect. If you have canes equiped for Maria then you'll want to pick up the mace cane, otherwise don't bother.

-As soon as you walk into Palm you'll notice a pirate that will take you straight to Poft (for a price). You can head straight to Poft if you'd like, there's not a whole lot to do in Palm. As far as magic goes in Palm, safe is an alright pick up for Maria but other than that don't bother..
-This sailor pirate tells you more of what you've been hearing, towns taken over by the Empire. Seems like a lot of towns are turning over to the Empire.
-There's nothing else important to see, do, or buy in Palm so talk to the pirate and he'll take you to Poft. You'll have to walk out of the city and board the boat and you'll be taken to Poft.
III. Poft

-This brings you to the town of Poft. Poft is very similar to Palm, in fact, it has the exact same things for sale in all of the stores. Poft also is the gateway to the towns of Salmando and Bofsk as well as the Semite Cave that will come into play soon.

-This woman clarifies what I just said. The town of Bofsk lies in the east and Salamando is in the north. I recommend heading to Bofsk first, but not quite yet.
-If you want to return to Palm for any reason this pirate will take you back on the same route for 32 Gil.
-Head into the pub and you can talk to a bunch of pirates that all say the exact same thing. They inform you that Bofsk is now occupied and that something terrible is being built there. The warship...?
-Also in the pub is Cid and his assistant. Cid only brags about his airship, but if you talk to his assistant you get offered rides to various locations (for a large price of course). If you have the money this can save you some traveling time, but you probably don't. If you fly anywhere, head to Bofsk since that's your first stop anyways and it's fairly cheap, but I recommend just walking.
-Cid's the only person worth talking to in Poft, so you can leave after talking to him. First, head east to the town of Bofsk along this path.
IV. Bofsk

-This is the town of Bofsk. You'll notice the great big ship behind Bofsk, could it be... the warship? As far as magic goes, buy the spell heal for as many people as you can. Buying a long sword for Frioniel and a long bow for Maria aren't that bad of ideas either. But, don't buy any armor, it's not worth it at this point. It really only depends on the amount of money that you have.

-Everyone in Bofsk seems to be speechless. Just about everyone you talk to has the same ...... response.
-The man in charge seems to be this guy in the center. He orders you not to walk around. Plus you can tell that he's important because he doesn't say ...... and talking to him brings up the say/learn/item menu as well.
-This guy is actually a spy for the rebellion. He warns you to watch yourself around here. You're also told that the people of Bofsk have been enslaved to work on the warship. After doing any shopping that you wish to do head back to Poft.
-Next head to the town of Salmando, located northwest of Poft. Head north a little futher than where I am in the picture and then head west.
V. Salmando

-This is the town of Salmando, where Josef is. You can pick up a battle axe for Guy at the weapon shop if you have 800 Gil to burn. Again don't bother with any armor here either. Bronze isn't worth the money you'll pay for it. Definetely pick up the spell life at the magic shop. You probably don't have the money for it now but pick up one for all of your party members eventually.

-Now it's time to gather some information. Especially on where mithril is and where Josef is. Talk to this woman and she informs you that all the men of Salmando had to mine mithril from the Semite Cave. But, where is the Semite Cave? Hmmmmm....
-Here's your answer, the Semite Cave is to the southwest of Salmando. Now it's time to get some info from the guy you came here to talk to, Josef. He's located in the building in the far northeast of Salmando.
-This is Josef, the man you've been searching for. (I guess that all men had to mine mithril didn't apply to him.) You can ask him about a variety of things, but what we're concerned about is about the mithril that we need. Ask Josef about it and he tells you that mithril has yet to be found.
-He goes on to beg for your help in saving the townspeople. The Semite Cave is definetely your next stop. Not only are the people of Salamando enslaved there, but you need the mithril from there as well.
