  
Below is a basic overview that I have compiled which
describes different stones and crystals and their main benefits. Please remember
that each stone affects everybody differently. Some of the listed benefits
may work for you but not for someone else. They are just basic guidelines
and not “set in stone” (I couldn’t resist that little pun).
Just remember, go with what feels right to you.

AVENTURINE: This mineral carries the healing powers
of the green earth. It heals the heart by releasing emotional stress, thus
allowing reuniting of the healthy heart and soul. It commonly has shiny silver
or pyrite flecks which enhance energy flow to other body areas.
AGATE (Blue Lace): Use blue lace agate on the third
eye area between the eyebrows as a sedative for the nerves; also, relieves
nonallergenic tension headaches. Offers tranquillity and attunement to the
senses. It also aids the flow of expression.
AGATE (Botswana): Adds strength and emphasis to
other stones in jewelry. Aids in the oxygenation of the various body parts.
The characteristic swirl provides a visual connection to wood and the plant
kingdom. Also aids in artistic expression, sensuality & emotions
AGATE (Fire): Stimulates the whole system. It's
a good memory stone and tissue regenerator. It balances, grounds and protects
those doing 'light' work. Earth and fire are combined into the mineral. It
adds to those areas of a person's astrological makeup.
AGATE (Iris): Thin slices reveal the characteristic
rainbows when tilted in the light. It regenerates the sense of touch in fingers
that have suffered burns or injuries (30 minute applications). In addition,
it promotes receptivity to inner truths.
AGATE (Moss): Improves circulation in blood and
lymphatic systems; also digestion and elimination are improved. Harmony is
a key attribute. The green inclusions form a link to nature for our subconscious.
AMBER: Strengthens tissues of the brain and nervous
system and draws disease from body tissues. Purifies the etheric body by
absorbing negative energy. Cleanse regularly with water and air baths.
AMAZONITE (Microcline): This is a pale
turquoise-colored mineral that is visually soothing. It synchronizes the
heart and throat chakras. It also activates thought energies as well for
completely balanced expression.
AMETHYST: Assists the mind's surrender to the higher
spiritual energies, stills the mind during meditation and calms for sleep
with inspired dreams. It activates the intellect in the amethystine ray.

APACHE TEAR (Transparent Obsidian): Provides psychic
protection and grounding as symbolized by the light shining through the darkness.
Draws light to the base chakra. It is also known as a psychic protector.
AQUAMARINE (Transparent Blue Beryl): Reduces fluid
retention, activates the thymus gland to calm coughs and nervousness. Helps
one learn about the inner self and universal truths. It is also said to protect
against baldness and liver disease.
AZURITE: Stimulates psychic powers and inspirations,
and improves visuals in meditation. Activates spleen and thyroid while
strengthening the etheric body, dissolving darkness.
AZURITE/MALACHITE: The healing green of malachite
softens the azurite's powerful blue energy. This combination activates and
heals congested areas. Comforts and reduces stress. Heals liver and skin
tissue.
BARITE: This mineral is calming to people too mentally
or physically active if placed in their living / working areas. It has a
harmonious influence on interpersonal relationships. A very popular form
is the Desert Rose.
BARITE (Clear): Like clear quartz, it is adaptable
to multifaceted use. It is both a body energizer and astral body cleanser.
It creates current flow between aspects of the total self and is an optimizer
in psychic work. In meditation it polarizes information to enhance clarity
so that in emotional issues, a more accurate reading of one's own intent
can be deduced. This is true for reading others as well.
BENITOITE: The blue / purple varieties (some have
white bands) speak for its high-level creativity and self awareness activation
powers. Improves the clairvoyance and visualization during spiritual practices.
This is a fluorescent mineral which allows for insight through darkness.
BLOODSTONE: A specific form of jasper with the
symbolic red spots imbued into the green stone. The biblical reference refers
to Christ's blood spilling on the stone. Grounds and cleanses the physical
body and helps with all blood disorders. Provides mental balance and increases
courage.
BLUE CALCITE: The colon and liver are cleansed
by blue calcite, and it can be worn as support during a period of treatment
to those areas. Blue calcite worn on the body is a calmer and is as effective
as a sedative after emotional trauma such as death of a loved one.
CALCITE (White, Honey, Green): Energy and thought
is amplified. White improves memory and augments astral travel. Honey stimulates
kidneys to remove body toxins and also assists with action, and the green
variety promotes joy.
CARNELIAN: This mineral represents the strength
and fertility of the Earth. Helps actualize personal power on the physical
plane. Protects and grounds the wearer's attention to the eternal present.
Improves the sense of touch and increases inner receptivity. In addition,
it has been known to help many with asthma.
CELESTITE: This mineral tunes consciousness to
the higher planes. It improves mental powers and communication. Commonly
the crystals are white and more rarely, blue crystals are found.
CHRYSOCOLLA: This stone releases stress and is
balancing to the emotions and the mind. It strengthens the lungs and thyroid
and reduces anger and fear. The color ranges from blue to turquoise.
CHRYSOPRASE: Enlivens insight for resolution of
personal problems, increases selflessness and love in actions. Its' crisp-looking
green has a high octave.
CITRINE: This mineral increases awareness and control
of mind and emotions. It enhances digestion and improves circulation of blood.
CORAL (Red, Pink, White): All have complementary
attributes but red accents more masculine vibrations. It calms and attunes
to the earth energies and provides protection. Acts as an astringent to mucous
membranes and helps with fever, colds, asthma and digestive problems.
DIAMOND: Clears the crown chakra of mental and
physical blockages. Maintains spiritual unity and is protection from poisonous
influences. No emotion can affect its pure mental nature, yet it is a noble
and complete consciousness as a mineral. It is a premier conduit of spirituality.
DRAVITE (Brown Tourmaline): Strongly associated
with healing and cleaning in the will (orange) chakra. Excellent for the
legs as well. As the person lays on the back, place dravite on the stomach
area. For hip problems, roll on either side and place the mineral on the
hips. Minerals which work well in unison with dravite are "halo rock" (selenite)
and jade. The selenite draws white healing light through the crown chakra
and through the chakra chord. The jade can be placed on the heart chakra
to ease tonal frequency updrafts and downdrafts while the selenite and dravite
interact.
EMERALD: Improves all heart functions including
love and kindness to others. Calms mind and relieves eyestrain.
FLUORITE: This mineral brings higher realities
into the physical plane and balances mental energies. Good for meditation.
It actualizes, increases life forces and expands mental power. The cubic
clusters symbolize advanced technological states in harmony with the universal
principles. Fluorite clears the mind of stress from fast-paced living. The
octahedrons represent theadvancement of the individual in the modern world.
In the blue, purple, golden and white colors they effect the head and also
chakras above.
GARNET-RED (Almandine or Spessartine): In older
times, this mineral was called carbuncle. It stimulates bloodflow and inspires
love. The deep red color has the needed power to aid in anemia. Drawing energy
from deep inside, creativity is inspired during meditation with this mineral.
In addition, it enhances all areas of passion.
GEM SILICA: This clear high-blue colored mineral
impacts the upper fifth chakra energies and along with its' communication
enhancement properties will tend to add "compassion in action" to the wearer's
skills. The yin energy of the stone gives it an emotional balancing effect,
extending its influence to the heart chakra. This mineral truly impacts the
soul and is sought after for healing layout work. Rarely found alone but
sometimes with better grades of Chrysocolla.
GRANITE: This matrix has the same properties of
clear quartz in a more dispersed pattern, much like quartz clusters. Therefore,
it is a good foundation stone in building structures to generally uplift
the energies of a place. As with other prevalently seen stones in our everyday
world, we must remember not to take this stone for "granite".
HAWK'S EYE (Falcon's Eye): When one can see with
the depth and clarity of a hawk, one is privy to much information about the
world, the scene around them. It is an awesome responsibility to see with
such incision (direct and decisive sight) without being overcome with empathy.
This is the level of brotherly love putting itself on the warrior's path
to truth, dignity and honesty. If one is willing to see everything and still
love and forgive, then one has made a magnificent step into the Christ
consciousness. From the hawk's point of view, life without this deep vision
is a life of poverty and dependence. The truest way for the hawk to express
his divinity is through the unflinching, powerful gaze. The next most magnetic
bird sight is the owl. The owl expresses ageless wisdom, a certain air of
sage grace. The hawk is all fiery intuitive knowing which activates the warrior
spirit into action when needed. Only people with the hawk totem should wear
the hawk's eye, but at one time or another all are called to makethe visionary
transition into the Christ consciousness. This can be facilitated by meditation
with this stone.
JADE: Jade helps connect for dreamwork causing
spiritual learning with physical plane impact. It can assist drawing on past
life wisdom especially related to the Oriental traditions. It has a therapeutic
effect on many glands and organs and the circulatory system. The stone projects
universal love. This is an excellent stone to carry or wear.
JADEITE: The highest gem grade of jade is jadeite.
It acts as an emotional release tool during dreams. This stone is of value
when used in the sleep area or placed on the throat.
JASPER: Stimulates the sense of smell. Promotes
general healing, tissue regeneration and stimulation of the immune system.
The placement and effect varies somewhat with the color. Yellow jasper stimulates
the heart area. Red is used for bronchial problems. Brown is for grounding
and green jasper has overall healing use when worn or held in the hands.
LAPIS LAZULI: This great mineral provides mental
calming while providing strength of will. It increases psychic ability and
allows for spiritual growth. It assists with the growth of interpersonal
relationships. Lapis was used extensively in ancient Egypt. This stone is
commonly included with white calcite or golden pyrite, both helping it to
integrate the indigo energy into the body.
MALACHITE: This powerful healing stone can be placed
directly on an affected area to absorb illness energies whether they are
physical or emotional problems. (Cleanse after use). It moves energy from
the higher planes and grounds it into the green earth. When used in meditation
or focused concentration, it brings out the true reality of the subject to
the person. You will note that this stone is a team player and commonly shares
space and properties with azurite and chrysocolla.
MOONSTONE: Moonstone is a true balancer of emotions.
Besides the normal heart placement it can be used on the will center to link
to higher consciousness with protection. Specifically provides synchrony
with moon-based cycles (menstrual and biorhythm).
OBSIDIAN: This is a protection stone for sensitive
or psychic people. It grounds the higher energies through the base chakra
and thereby balances the digestive and intestinal systems. A good pocket
stone.
OBSIDIAN (BLACK): Black Obsidian is the Wizard
Stone. It not only has a sphere of influence which holds back negativity,
but in a large mass is a "door opener" both within an individual and in the
psychic sense. It exists simultaneously in more than one dimension. Yet with
all its power, it is a benevolent stone. It cannot be misused, for only positive
vibrations can work harmoniously with its purpose. In the egg shape it draws
upon itself infinitely. The pureness of spirit is reflected by the obsidian.
Negativity cannot coexist with it, therefore, its presence aids the positive
vibratory force of those entities and those material surroundings within
its force field. It can also draw healing to the asker. This stone is highly
recommended for all psychics!
ONYX: This mineral enhances visions. It is worn
too frequently by people who are not aware of what it can do for the experienced
practitioner. Best for meditation and dream emphasis. Must be used with apache
tear for protection unless the practitioner is adept. Energizer to the system,
it is also a general nerve soother and emotional centering agent. Sometimes
used as a fever reducer. The dark form has root chakra association while
the lighter (yellow / golden) has fifth chakra connection. This bipolar attribute
helps the natural capillary action in the body.
OPAL: Harmony is the accent on the emotional, mental
and psychic level. In its red / orange (fire), black, jelly blue and white
/ yellow forms, its impact is accented for different body areas, acting as
a tonic and regenerator. Opal is known to emphasize the prevalent tendency
of a person, positive or negative.
PEARL: This substance improves the digestion of
events, focuses attention in a balanced emotional manner, reduces irritability
and is especially soothing in combination with colored gems.
PERIDOT: This mineral strengthens the physical
body and aligns and balances all the spirit bodies. Regenerates many organs
including liver, pancreas, heart, spleen adrenals and the thyroid.
QUARTZ: Though many of the minerals discussed here
have a quartz content, the ones listed below are those whose common name
have kept that label:
QUARTZ, BLUE: Excellent for optical stimulation
of distressed or traumatized tissues. It is an excellent exceriser for those
wishing to eliminate glasses, and provides good overall toning when used
routinely. It is suggested that the specimen be placed in a lighted area
when it is backlighted so that the individual obtains benefits from the light
refracting through the piece.
QUARTZ, CLEAR: The most common quartz, in fact
the link oneness it provides throughout the earth, gives it the significance
of stabilizer of divine forces on this plane. It can be used for general
toning and healing, and acts as a medium for meditation communication with
all levels of spirit life. Its balanced polarity and common properties with
many of our body's cells and substances, make it an aid to our physical and
emotional well-being. This is the best mineral for affirmation / programming
work as it is the most universal.
QUARTZ, GEODES: They would naturally possess the
qualities of quartz and any other minerals found within the 'wholeness' of
their integrated domain. They symbolize the beauty and power found 'within'
us and the completeness of the circle found after they are opened up.
QUARTZ, ROSE: This is the quartz of the heart,
an emotional release and balancing stone. Its pink color resonates warmth
and love. It helps all types of lonely and deprived souls. Especially good
for children and those who needed love when children. The rose energy flows
in with the circulation of the heart vessels.
QUARTZ, RUTILATED: Adds energy and life force to
the clear quartz properties. A regenerator of people, crystals and plants.
Helps one to resist aging and the general cellular breakdown caused by
time.
QUARTZ, SMOKY: Smoky quartz physically assists
the entire lower body, clearing and cleaning on a physical and emotional
level. Its appearance is symbolic of its ability to bring the white light
down through the body to the base of the spine. It provides grounding energy
for successful action and naturally stimulates the adrenals.
RHODOCHROSITE: A stone that moves heart and emotional
energy to the lower body to integrate higher and lower energies working on
the triads of chakras to create a totality of the spiritual and physical
energies. It cleans and amplifies the aura and other subtle bodies.
RHODONITE: This mineral reduces emotional imbalance
as it blends the heart pink with the dark root chakra colors. Helps one to
achieve self-actualization. It improves the sense of hearing as it is a sound
sensitive mineral.
RUBY: Ruby strengthens the heart emotionally and
focuses the ability to love; provides an energy boost, and increases personal
courage. It provides emotional and physical stability - a preserver.
SAPPHIRE: Sapphire amplifies intuitive ability.
An aid in meditation or prayer as it provides mental calming. Its complementary
affect is on the digestive system, helping with assimilation on a physical
level. Therefore, the total effect is healing and centering, physically and
mentally.
SELENITE (Halo Rock): This mineral is a mental
and spiritual expander. A magical and powerful tool with particular benefit
to practitioners of healing, meditation and the alchemical arts. Many of
the clusters have absorbed mysteries which can be unlocked and revealed to
the sensitive or psychic individual. The arrowhead, desert rose, hour glass,
floret and fishtail shapes show its variety of powers of manifestation.
SERPENTINE: Serpentine is a healing stone. As it
works on the heart and lungs it helps the withdrawing of toxins and activates
the absorption of nutrients and oxygen. There is a tendency for psychic opening
as cleansed core body functions enhance the individual's sense of security
and relaxes one's overall nature.
SOAPSTONE: Soapstone should be considered an essential
type of mineral for the home, particularly, and in other daily environments.
It is an excellent grounding stone for other rocks and minerals providing
a solid foundation for the minerals. Specimens can be placed on the soapstone
as a general 'home' and since soapstone balances and counteracts static,
the minerals are maintained in optimum working order all the time. The thickness
of the soapstone does not matter nor the color or essential qualities beyond
basic identification as soapstone. Soapstone harmonizes well with the home.
Soapstone can be cleansed with smudge, incense, flame and sun applications.
It is an excellent 'workhorse'.
SODALITE: The metabolic balance of the glandular
and lymphatic system is an important affect of this mineral. Its high blue
color shows its spiritual signature trait. It is an affordable replacement
for lapis lazuli in healing / growth work and in providing activation to
the third eye area.
SUNSTONE (Heliolite): In the yellow and darker
shades, it projects light into the lower heart chakra area, causing facilitation
of a friendly will force which is a harmonious and meets little
resistance.
TIGER'S EYE (Golden Yellow): Its soothing blend
of hues flow together like the words of one who wears it. The 'mind's eye'
can be focused and insight is the natural by-product. This mineral is actually
quartz based.
TOPAZ: The red, yellow and orange topaz work with
the digestive system and therefore helps with assimilation of nutrients and
energy. This, and the direct will-center impact, facilitates correct action.
The gem quality golden and white topaz is an opener to the spiritual fire
at the crown.
TOURMALINE: In its color range, it activates the
associated chakras from black (schorl) at the first; red (rubellite) at the
second; brown/orange (dravite) at the third; green (elbaite), pink and watermelon
at the fourth; blue (indicolite) at the fifth; cat's eye at the sixth; clear
at the seventh. Generally, it is an emotional stabilizer and it draws off
the static and tunes the nervous system.
TURQUOISE: Longevity is increased by its ability
to protect the primary body systems from pollution. This mineral is provides
overall toning physically and emotionally gives its wearer vibrance. Selected
as a sacred stone by the Native Americans, its list of attributes could fill
a book!
