September 11, 2001: I don't think there is anyone in the world who's eyes weren't on the Northeastern United States today. Early this morning, as the world watched in horror, U.S. Passenger jets-hijacked by unidentified terrorists-plowed into the side of the twin towers of the World Trade Center, as well as the Pentagon. It is something with which many Americans still cannot cope. It's like something out of a movie, or an apocalyptic novel, but it's not something anyone EVER imagined could happen on American soil. I think it is the least I can do to take this time to post a brief statement regarding this act of malice toward the Ideals of Freedom and Peace, as well as to commemorate the victims of the attack.
First and foremost, I'd like to address the shear magnitude of the loss of Human life inflicted today. Reports range from hundreds at the Pentagon to thousands and even hundreds of thousands at the World Trade Center, including children at a Day Care Center at the World Trade Center. I don't need to explain, nor can I begin to imagine, the horror that must run rampant through New York City this day. At this point, all we can do is pray for the souls lost, their families, and those brave men and women who continue to doggedly search for survivors. May God bless those men, women and children, as well as all the stunned citizens of the United States of America, all of whom have certainly felt the blow from this act.
Second, I'd like to address the deliberate, sudden, brutal nature of this act of darkness. Two planes, both massive, and both carrying large numbers of innocent passengers, were thrust in perfect synchronization against undefended civilian targets. Another was driven into the Pentagon, the cerebral cortex of American defense, as an obvious statement that America was under attack. This was no series of random isolated incidents, nor was it a half-baked protest by a few malcontents looking for a fight. It was a merciless, cruel, savage act of pure evil planned long in advance with the sole and obvious purpose of destroying innocent American lives. It is truly hard to believe that there are those in our world who salute this attack as the first wave of a holy war. The message is clear, the threat emminent, the danger immediate: War has been declared on America, on Freedom, and on Peace.
Finally, I'd like to say simply that this act cannot and will not go unpunished. America has turned the other cheek far too many times, and the time for justice has arrived. I fully and fervently believe that I speak for the entire nation of America when I express my complete and utter outrage at this act of hate. Though I am only one citizen, I speak with the same voice as all Americans when I say this: Whoever is responsible for today's attack, your days are shortly numbered. You simply do not attack the United States of America and expect to get away with it, and you can expect to feel the full fury of the wrath of this great republic. You will soon learn what it means to quarrel with the leading nation of the Free World, as well as all the good and just nations of the world, who fully support us in this, our hour of justice. You wanted our attention, and now you have it; And make no mistake, this is an act America will neither forgive nor forget. Lastly, I join a friend of mine, as well as so many others in saying, "May God have mercy on the souls of whoever did this, for God knows we cannot."
"God bless America: my home sweet home"
