Themes I Have Known


Amber theme


This was the first theme I created. I was pretty proud of myself. Scanned the image off the cover of my paperback copy of Sign of the Unicorn, which I don't have with me, so I can't give credit to the artist, I'm afraid.

The colors are, as you can see, gold and green. Font is Old English Text MT for the Title Bars, and Lucinda Calligraphy for the menus and such. I decided to just use ye olde, goode olde Times New Roman for the text of message boxes, though. The other fonts were kinda hard to read.

I'm rather proud of the icons. All of these are from the Visual Guide - Merlin's head as My Computer, the pentagram from Fiona's Trump for Network Neighborhood, Corwin's head for the Full Recycle Bin (it seemed appropriate; what can I say?), Dara's head for the Empty Recycle Bin, and Benedict for My Documents.

Some of the pointers are cute, too... And also mostly from the Visual Guide. The Unicorn for the pointer is a bit hairy until you get the hang of it - the tip of the horn is the hot spot, not the head. Help select is just the rose from Corwin's Trump. Working in Background is Mandor's hand, complete with a rotating ball. :) Busy is the corner bit from Ghostwheel's Trump, and it also rotates. Then there's Dworkin's head for the Unavailable and Random's for Alternate Select (which has an arrow on it... so you don't have to guess what bit is actually doing the clicking... :) ).

There are also 3 .wav sound files, all recorded from Sunset recordings of Roger Zelazny reading the books.

Silver Rose theme


This was my second Amber theme. There's actually a background image that I've been using, but I found it for download on someone else's Amber page, and I can't remember who/where that was, else I'd contact them (and certainly offer the theme, if they're interested). It looks a bit better with that background (which is also, btw, predominantly black), but it works just as well plain black.

Corwin's head here is the only one that I know for sure where I got it. The others have been floating around my computer for Heaven only knows how long, probably saved off someone's web page out there and forgotten about. (I.e., if it belongs to you and you want it to not be here, let me know!)

Not too spectacular a set of cursors here. I wasn't really going for spectacular. The Working in Background rose blooms - don't remember where I got it, but it used to be red. ;) The Busy rose rotates in a box-shaped path.

No sounds for this one - just didn't seem appropriate.
