HISTORY
Her life began in Liazus, the capital city of her elven hometown Myrcoria. She lived in a small home next to the Whirling Wheel Inn in the northeast section of town. Her father was unknown to her for most of her life, as he had to leave her mother shortly after Xantra's birth to go to war. Her mother soon remarried, after "innocently" presuming her husband dead in battle, and moved to live with her new husband Lansten. Xantra discovered all too quickly that Lansten was a temperamental and abusive man, but was often protected from him by his son, Tristan, with whom she became very close.
As she grew older, she was always coming up with excuses to leave the house and get away from her stepfather. She eventually took a job as a tendress at the Twilight Rose Tavern, a main attraction only to those who wandered. Xantra preferred to work the late shifts so that when she returned home, Lansten was already asleep. But one night after working overtime, she returned home to find that what she had feared most had happened- her mother was dead, and no one but Tristan and Xantra had any idea how it came to be. Since she was still young, she was forced to move into Lansten's home just west of the market place in the southeast area of the city overlooking the harbor. For that period of time Tristan still protected her from his violent father, though Xantra's life was just as miserable as Lansten beat on him often.
One evening, about a month after moving in, Tristan told her in secret that with the next setting of the sun, she must leave the house, leave Liazus, and seek a better life. When that night came, and Lansten and Tristan fought as they always did as of late, Xantra secretly gathered her things to make her escape at sunset. But things turned suddenly physical between father and son. Tristan yelled to Xantra to run immediately, and she did, as fast as she could, out of the house and into the coming night. Barely fifty feet away, she heard a deathly scream, and somehow knew it had not been Lansten's. Without a look back, she flew onward for hours, her fatigue put on hold by her fear.
After leaving Liazus, she eventually reached the bridge crossing the Starwater Creek, and rested there under its protection. With what little money she had, she could persuade a local gypsy caravan to take her to the next town- as long as she earned her keep. Little did she know what kind of fate RhyDin held for her…
