Mercilessly

A sliver of youth lost annually

Not a single bestowal of gratitude was given

Wrapped and packaged as a gift

Only empty promises long broken

Only your love in which no one would receive

Sitting dismally on the grey old couch

Lost in a sea of melancholy

When faith is the only thing you're left grasping

For you've been living in ignorant bliss

Resting your eyes upon candles

Perched among all the chocolate covered

Icing filled quietus

The only one that would take you

Into its cold dampened arms

And no candle was blown out

No wish was made

And one single tear fell

Like stars falling from the dark night sky

Trickling down your cheek

Slowly, painfully

Mercilessly....
