Chapter 3: Crimson Heart
Baby's black balloon makes her fly
Almost fell into tha hole in your life
You weren't thinking about tomorrow
Cause you were the same as me
But on your knees
A thousand other boys could never reach you
How could I have been the one
I saw the world spinning beneath you
And scattered like ice from the spoon
That was your womb
Coming down, the world turned over
Angels fall without you there
Yet I go on as you get colder
Or are you someone's prayer
Remember the lies they always told you
And the love you never knew
Was it things they never showed you
That swallowed the light from the sun
Inside your room
Coming down, the world turned over
Angels fall without you there
Yet I go on as you get colder
Or are you someone's prayer
And there's no time left for losing
When you stand they fall
Coming down the world turned over
Angels fall without you there
Yet I go on as you get colder
All because I'm
Coming down the years turned over
Angels fall without you there
Yet I go on when I need to hold her
All because I'm
All because I'm
I'll become
What you became to me
Goo Goo Dolls-Black Balloon
That morning, Vincent woke up to Lucrecia's voice.
"You've done all you could, Vincent."
I still want to help her.
"You can do nothing more…"
Lucrecia, what do you mean? I…
" You have finally opened your heart to someone new. But… "
WHAT? Spit it out, Lucrecia!
"I'm so sorry Vincent."
Vincent had spent the night at her house. After getting up, he went over to check on Tifa.
His Tifa.
She was lying on her bed, a peaceful smile on her face. He put a hand on her cheek and smiled back, but then his blood ran cold.
"Dear God, no…"
The sleeping pill container was empty.
He shook her shoulders, she didn't stir.
"NO! Dammit no!"
"Tifa!" He shook her harder. "Tifa, dammit! Wake up!!" He felt for her pulse, then her heart beat.
She was gone.
He fell to his knees. "I'm so sorry Tifa…" He repeated over and over. "I'm so sorry…"
Even so, Vincent would not cry..

At the funeral, everyone was there. Cloud, Cid, Barret, Red, Reeve, even Yuffie had arrived. Vincent sat with the others but said nothing. He just listened.
Cloud was first to stand. "Tifa was the greatest friend I could ever have. Loyal, caring, and always concerned. She was so selfless that she would give anything for us. Like a mother. But she was more, much, much more. Through everyone I meet between now and forever, there will never be another Tifa Lockheart."
Cid was next. "Oh, *^&%!" He swore crudely. "I got no words to say."
Then Came Red. "Tifa was always optimistic. Always keeping up our spirits. When I questioned who I was, she always told me to be strong. I didn't listen at first, but I think now is the time that I must listen to her advice." He looked like he was about to cry, or the Nanaki equivalent of crying. "We will all miss her. So now comes the time when we must say goodbye to Tifa Lockheart."
They each went up one by one, until it was Vincent's turn. He sighed.
"Most people never got to know the real Tifa Lockheart. The real Tifa just wanted one thing, and one thing only. She just wanted someone to care. Tifa sacrificed a lot for us, and asked for friendship in return. Always trying to make us happy was all she did. She thought she failed. But she didn't. It was our neglect that was misunderstood. She thought the world rejected her. I got to know the real Tifa, and I'll miss her just the same."
The rest of AVALANCHE stood, awestruck with Vincent's insights. But Vincent was anything but happy with himself.
He couldn't help her, and he hated himself for it.
Thus ended the final chapter in the Tifa Lockheart Trilogy.
THE END
Author's Note: Before you start throwing bricks at me, let me say I actually go for the whole Tifa/Cloud thing. I just wanted something different. Please e-mail comments nipalanfg@aol.com! I never get any e-mail these days. Doesn't anyone love me anymore?
