Candidate Barracks (#6388)
Serviceable, this low-ceiling'd room runs right and left from the heavy canvas
curtains that function as a door: relatively bare of ornamentation, tidy glows
light the few worn tapestries that adorn the walls and depict a variety of dragons
in flight or at rest. But it is the cots, lots and lots of cots, that distinguish
this room from the others, their blue or black coverlets tucked neatly over
relatively fresh rushes.
Candidate's haven, this is their escape from the bustling world of chores and
Weyr; visitors are welcome if invited.
Resting atop the doorframe are thirty-one firelizards.
You see Name Board, Oliana's One-Ringed Orthanc, Mimi's Middle-Earth, Seilyn's
Sauronly Servant, Fyria's Frodo-ish Futon, Tevya's Terrifulous Tower, Sikkyen's
Sexay Strider Shanty, Sage Sackville's Shire of Schtuff, Miralwyn's Corner 'O'
Mordor, Squaln's Sword of Elendil, Kirana's Krickety Kot of Kahazad-Dum, Lhana's
Legolas Lovin' Lounge, Candidate Songbook, Azia's Altar to Aragorn, Moe's Manger
of Mithril, It, LlamaMama, Jundi's Jewels of Feonor, Baby Baggins Buggy, Lianta's
Forest of Fangorn, and Taesha here.
You notice Squaln, Mimi, Mosiah, Lhana, Tevya, Jundi, and Seilyn asleep here.
Oliana and Sage are here.
Obvious exits:
Caverns
Sikkyen comes home.
Azia comes home.
Miralwyn comes home.
Shaela escapes in from the bustling activity of caverns and Weyr.
Shaela flicks on her little OOC light and is here. Whooooee.
Oliana bounces on her cot excitedly.
Kirana comes home.
Fyria returns, sending a firelizard off to deliver the message.
Fyria says, "Woo. Party in the Barracks! *cracks open a bottle (sans rocket
widget, thank you)*"
RompBompAChomp blinks in from ::between::!
Kaiji tosses rocket widgets at Fyria.
Miralwyn curls up on a hoverchair. :)
Azia snugs all goodnight and goes to crash. Byebye!
Fyria bats 'em back at Kaiji. Target practice. Cheer.
Shaela says, "Okay, I think what we'll do is just do a Q&A, since you
guys have hopefully read the packages we sent out to you. We'll start with green
and go forward. But, to save us having ten Q's out there at once, page me, and
I'll add you to the queue, and then tell you when to go ahead and ask."
Azia has disconnected.
Azia falls asleep.
Fyria notes, btw, that the colour pak was awesome. :)
Shaela says, "So! Starting with green, do any of you guys have questions
about stuff that was wwritten in the package, stuff that wasn't covered in the
package, stuff in general to do with green?"
Sikkyen whoops, and sprawls on the floor. Green. Hmm.
Kaiji flutters around, ducking rocket widgets. Green. See? Green. *preen*
Miralwyn may not be going for green with this char, but thinks greens are cool.
ProddyGreen especially. *waves a little flag* And can't think of a thing. 0.o
Oliana can't either, and paces
Sikkyen baps everyone. Y'know, if we're brainfreezing at a time like this..
we should have thought questions up earlier. o.O
Sage wonders, What if I've had a question about greens in general that doesn't
really have to do with deciding to ride greens?
Shaela shrugs, sounds good to me, Sage? Any and all questions, but if it's too
hard, maybe we don't answer it. ;)
Sage grins and nods. Okies, is it true that some of the smaller greens prefer
not to blood before flying?
G'deon nods to Sage. "That is true. Some greens either forget (if it's
in the personality I suppose), but often they just don't feel the need."
Sikkyen has disconnected.
Sikkyen falls asleep.
Sikkyen has connected.
Sikkyen wakes up.
G'deon says, "Blooding is really to give stamina, and by the books it's
actually the males who blood first anyway, so whether the green does so or not
is up to her. If... that makes any sense. Golds always need to blood though,
otherwise you'll get a short flight."
Sage likes that, Nasty business. ;)
Sikkyen ooohs, and bounces. I have a question!
RompBompAChomp waves as P'rru-in-diguise. One thing that was left out of the
email I think?- people say they want to impress green for proddiness. And for
flights- I noticed a few people tend to say that they want their character to
have to deal with the awkwardness of flights. But really, riders of male dragons
have -more- flight stuff to adjust to. Greens only rise 3-4 times a turn (right?)
while your male dragon can chase everyday in every turn for the rest of his
life (it'd be difficult but you get the idea). So when people want to chose
green only on basis of flight stuff, just remember, that males have icly more
opportunity as chasers to do flight stuff than females. Not that chosing green
for that reason is wrong at all! Just a lot don't think about flights from the
non-green perspective.
Kaiji-as-Reiko notes that chasing is fun. :)
Shaela notes also that most active green/goldriders don't have very many on
camera flights. Usually 2-4 per year, really. More often on the lower end. Male
exposes you to a lot more flights because you don't have to do all the organizing..
you just show up. ;)
RompBompAChomp also hopes that made sense. Chyah.
Shaela says, "Ookie. Fyria's turn. :D"
Fyria wrinkles. And actually, Shaela just answered my question. ;)
Shaela twinkles. Really. :P
Miralwyn thinks Shaela's talented. ;)
Fyria nods. Regarding how often greens on this MOO rise.
Shaela lives up to the goldrider rep, or something. Haha. More on that later.
;) Sikkyen had a question next?
Sikkyen grins at Shae. I was wondering -- this is probably covered in the colorpak,
but I didn't save it to disk and Hotmail makes my computer crash, * wrinkle
* -- to what extent, rank-wise, does riding green open up to someone who wants
to go beyond the status of just wingrider? I mean, for example, I know that
we have greenriding wingleaders. Could a greenrider be a weyrlingmaster, for
instance?
Kaiji bounces. Absolutely.
Quara escapes in from the bustling activity of caverns and Weyr.
[OOC:] Quara * arrives and whatnot. Yo. ;)
Shaela flicks Quara's OOC lightswitch. and tosses candy at her. Yum. :)
Oliana wants candy! *pout* Zebra cakes, to be exact.
Sikkyen drools. Zebra cakes..
Quara just had orange cake. Oli and Ike can have my share.
Sage makes a face. Ick. I hate cake.
Quara also adds, incidentally, since my alt's nickname is Zebra, that it's very
odd scanning those messages. ;)
Shaela says, "A greenrider can really be whatever a greenrider wants to
be. IC Leadership here at HRW really just requires that you be pro-active and
put your name in, be active in roleplay, and you'll get noticed. Usually before
weyrlinghood begins there's a call for asst. weyrlingmasters (usually you're
an AWLM before you're a WLM, but not always), and anybody can be AWLM.. or WLM.
Except golds. *pout*"
Oliana makes kissy-faces at Quara. "Hey there, Zebra cakes" *ahem*
Shaela says, "Any leadership at HRW really just requires that you be pro-active.
I can't stress that enough. If you're out there and active, getting to know
people, make it clear that you aspire to be WLM, or Wingleader, you'll probably
get your shot. :)"
Quara dipsmooches Oli. *rawr* Don't tempt me. ;) Ooh. Random fact: Until Zi'n
was named Wingsecond, the only bronze in a position of IC power was Gid.
Sikkyen oohs. Those answers answer my question /quite/ nicely. Thanks. ^^
Shaela says, "Awesome! Sage had the next question. :)"
Mosiah has connected.
Mosiah mumbles something or another about tie-dyed wherries, blinks once, and
finally awakens.
Sage was just wondering if there was anything (OOC policies or IC stuff) that
was different here at HRW than at other weyrs or MOOs for riding green? And
also, can goldriders be AWM?
Shaela pounces on Mosiah. morning!
Quara greets... here. Moe!
Miralwyn offers Moe a spare hoverchair. ;)
Oliana has swooned on the floor, by the way
RompBompAChomp quickly adds that here, to be promoted from wingrider to wingsecond/wingleader,
it's done within the wings. Mudslide, for example, changed leadership with a
vote- voting in a new wingsecond Sora. But I got to be wingleader because S'nor
vamoosed and left the knot to me. So yeah...it's done within wings and by vote
or by whomever the leaders think would be good for the job.
Shaela shakes her head with a sniffle. "Gold can't do anything except weyrwoman.
And more than likely she'll just be a junior. There's not much room for advancement
here. At least, not for Py and I, since neither of us really want to play senior.
;)
Sikkyen tugs Moe to the floor with him and Oli. Much funner down here. * smirk.
*
Mosiah slinks onto the floor with the rest. Group fun. Hey guys. :)
Lylia escapes in from the bustling activity of caverns and Weyr.
Miralwyn just sits on her hoverchair in splendid isolation then. *sniffle*
Kirana idles for the phone...meh...
Fyria tosses a pillow Moe-wards. Get comfy.
Shaela waits on Quara, who is typing an answer for ya, Sage :D
Oliana get's comfy with Sikk and Moe. Ooh yeah.
Quara adds, on the topic of greenriders: Kinda. Our policy is if you wanna ride
green, you can ride green. I've been on some Mu*'s where, say, greenriders are
/required/ to let everyone know when the flight is... and everyone is required
to let them know if they're coming, and such like. HT and HRW are way too big
for that, though, so mostly we're an open policy group. :) Fun-like.
Mosiah ducks and uses Oli as a pillow instead.
Quara also notes that if you have any questions on whether something might be
IC or permissible, just ask. Usually, it's come up before, and we have an answer.
Shaela noddles, "Usually if you're going to have a flight, you post to
*weyrs, and sometimes set something on @events. But *weyrs, because we're typically
inclusive of IW in HRW flights. And they're usually the same. More fun that
way. :P
Lylia always has an answer. But the question is whether it's the right answer.
:)
Quara's answer is often 42.
Oliana beams at Quara
Quara licks Oli. Glad someone got that.
Sage beams and nodnods, Thankies. :)
Shaela says, "In the meantime, if anyone has anymore green questions, please
page now, or I'll move onto blue :D Oh, and if you think of anything else on
green after, we'll do wrap-up at the very end."
Quara bounces. Blue! Blueblueblueblueblueblueblue...
Shaela pssts, Quara, you forgot bloo.
Mosiah kerswoons. Bloooooo.
Sikkyen leeeeeeeans back, and straps himself in for the ride of his life. Here
come all the questions, whaddyabet! * beam. *
Quara faints. Forget? Bloo? /Never/. Just didn't get there yet.
Shaela goes to blue, then! page if you have a Q :)
Kaiji beams. Blue.
Shaela opens the floor to Miralwyn first. :)
PrettyFlitter returns from her drawings of dinosaur skeletons and reminds any
potential greenies that you /don't/ have to have an on camera flight if you
don't want to. It is not required that you even RP about flights! We just assume
that it happens off camera and you don't want to talk about it, if so. Or, you
could RP every single flight your dragon would have IC (that's like twice a
month or more rl!) if you wanted to. Depends on the kind of RP you're looking
for. Same goes for proddiness. Don't have to RP it if you don't want to. Do
it all off camera.
Miralwyn nods. Okies. I'm aware that there are certain stereotypes assigned
to blues, simply because of their physical characteristics. They're small, they're
fast, they're agile, they're the Green Catchers.. Therefore, they also are seen
as cocky hotheads, sort of like fighter pilots. However, I also know that folks
are encouraged to go for non stereotypical representations for their dragons.
But, see... I /want/ a 'standard' blue. I want one that's cocky and all that
stuff. Can one still have a 'boring' blue like that? ;)
Shaela giggles, because she doesn't even see that as the stereotype. :P
Sage votes for Wynnie to go for it. ;P
Quara oohs. Dude. Blues are /so/ neat.
Kaiji thought you could have any kinda dragon you wanted.
PrettyFlitter doesn't think that's boring. It's coooool. Blues are the best.
Kaiji blinkities at Lors-in-disguise. Oh really?
PrettyFlitter's player likes blues best. Lors-char likes greens best. So?
Quara actually points out that blues have the least stereotypes; I mean, greens
are flirts, browns are boring(not that I think this, mind!), bronzes are responsible...
Blueriders are sometimes stereotyped as homosexual, but other than that... Anyhow.
No, playing a 'stereotypical' dragon can be as much fun as playing one that
breaks the stereotype.
Shaela says, "One thing Search really likes is people who are looking for
a 3D dragon. This is because we only write 3D dragons, and we'd hate to disappoint
someone by not giving them the 1D dragon they're looking for, and instead giving
them something full of quirks and interesting mannerisms and appearances."
Quara has also noticed we have disproportionately large numbers of anti-stereotypical
dragons. ;)
RompBompAChomp waves. Yah, Dsalth is stereotypical (in many ways) and so is
Purr and I dont find 'em boring to rp!
Lylia sulks at Quar. We're not boring@
Quara didn't say so! It's the /stereotype/. I know you're smart and funny and
sexy, darling.
Fyria snickers and tosses Lylia a cookie. Course yer not. ;)
Miralwyn gleams happily! Awesome! Yeah, I know they aren't boring at all, but
after seing the vast numbers of nonstandard sorts, just wanted to ask. :)
Quara woots. All for the not-boringness.
Shaela nodnods. And doesn't have any questions in the queue... did anybody else
have one on blue?
Sikkyen has a general-purpose question?
Quara likes that kind, too.
Shaela says, "sure, sikkyen?"
Quara reflects. Maybe that made more sense in my brain... *sigh*
Kirana has a question/comment thing too, after Ike?
Sikkyen beams. I was wondering about sexual preferences. As in, stereotypes
vs Anne McCaffrey's rules/laws - can a male brownrider be bisexual, a female
one straight? Or can a female greenie be homo, while a guy was bi? Yeah. I was
wondering. ^^
Kaiji is pretty sure you can play any sexual preference you like, regardless
of color.
Shaela noddles while Quara types detailed answer.
Quara laughs. Right on; we've got people of every orientation on every color.
And more than our fair share of bronzers who like other boys, instead of sharing
the wealth with the girls. *sniff* But no matter what your choices, you can
ride any color. We don't discriminate. Equal Opportunity Weyr and whatnot.
Sage raises a hand!?!
Shaela noddles to Sage, okay?
Ndi escapes in from the bustling activity of caverns and Weyr.
Quara hopes that answered your question, incidentally, Ike. ;)
Sage, could be a ditz, but I thought goldriders /had/ to be straight? Or does
it not matter?
Kaiji thinks they're expected to sleep with men when bronzes catch?
T'am escapes in from the bustling activity of caverns and Weyr.
T'am comes to torture.
Quara giggles. Well, they'll probably end up with guys at some point, due to
mating flights. But on their own time, they can do whatever they please. ;)
Ooh. Hey. Speaking of bronzers who don't share the wealth...
Kaiji grins. Speaking of sexual preferences..
Shaela says, "In my mind, there is a goldrider, though I don'tthink it's
on this game, who's gay... but Shae's slept with a lot of women due to flights,
so it goes both ways. :P"
T'am prances for Kaiji.
Quara bonds. Kai and I are on the same wavelength today. ;)
Kaiji actually hears he shares the wealth more these days...
RompBompAChomp wants to note that P'rru is very straight but that doesn't mean
Dsalth doesn't chase green dragons with male riders. In fact he's caught a few.
Zaqith for example. Purr just chose to leave the area (he likes hiding with
his weyrmate during flights anywho) instead of getting jiggy with R'sli (not
that Ris isn't sexy). So sexual preference also shouldn't affect who your dragon
chases neither.
Fyria licks T'am.
Sikkyen mmmms, and nods. Thanks. That answers my question /quite/ nicely.
Quara oohs. Ris is /very/ sexy. *digress* Anyhow. Yeah. And there's always the
option of finding someone of your choice, rather than the winner of the flight.
Shaela nodnods, this all gets explained in weyrlinghood, but you can have it
set so that you can sleep with whoever you want post-flight. That's something
that's okayed by Anne, even.
Kaiji also notes that nobody is required to rp TS, flight or no.
Fyria oh's...and tucks that away.
Shaela noddles. Okay. So, I think Kirana has the next question :)
T'am notes that he shares the wealth with all who wish to recieve of it. ;)
And thats the last comment he'll make on the subject. *ahem-lets the conversation
continue to other things*
Kaiji flutters.
Kirana warns...s'kinda long :)
Kirana isn't sure if this was covered really, since I was idle, and if it was,
I'm sorry. But I remember seeing in the colorpack, which has mysteriously disappeared
from my email .oO that blue was easy to play because of it's lack of stereotype
I think it was? Not sure what the exact wording was, but I've often heard the
opposite, that blues unusually hard and that some people can play them, and
some just can't, so I was just kind of out for any opinions from blue-types
on what they think round how hard a blue is to play. If that made any sense
at all.
RompBompAChomp rides blues elsegame. And I think they are really easy. One is
a complete ditz, the other is a real social butterfly bad-boy. S'all about the
personality. Any dragon can be hard to play regardless of colour.
Kirana nods, and knows color doesn't really influence personality when it /really/
comes down to it (except for the whole male/female thing) but what I've heard
is that at least with the other colors you have a stereotype to fall back on
if need be.
Kaiji notes you'll have your inspiration to fall back on?
Ndi rides a blue elsemu*, and heck, I love him. Worship him. He's the greatest
thing in the world. Not because he's anti-stereotypical and not because people
expect him to do things he doesn't do (I mean, very few people actually come
up to you and go, "Hey, why isn't your green flirty?!?!?") but just
because his character is a lot of fun. And for the falling-back-on stuff...
well, that's what insps are for, really. They're supposed to give you a really
solid foundation to go off of -- even a more detailed one than stereotypes can
be.
Ndi has noooooo sense of grammar.
Seilyn has connected.
Seilyn yawns, rolls over, and sits up, blinking.
Quara oohs. On that: if your dragon has a really, truly unique personality -
like we try to give every one we write an inspiration for - then you'll never
/need/ to 'fall back' on anything. I mean, Saku is who he is; that wouldn't
change much if he were brown, or even green... Boy, we're repetetive.
Quara waves at Sei. Color Q&A. And spam. ;)
Seilyn dances! I made it! *bwee*
Shaela idly notes, though, that the more we know about you and what you like
and what you know abuot, as well as your character, what they like, and what
they /are/ like, the more successful we will be at tailoring a dragon to You.
PrettyFlitter points at Yajisarath. She's so completely unique, imo. But through
the months (less than a year, wow) she's evolved into more of a cheerleader
stereotype (with farleth the quarterback ;P). So you can always go through and
adjust things as you see fit.
Quara must go, loves. Have fun. ;) See you all later.
RompBompAChomp makes comments about hick-dragons. ;P
Quara has disconnected.
Quara's eyes close, and her head leans forward drowsily.
Kirana nods, and thanks. :)
Shaela has seen people get inspirations about a topic they were completely disinterested
in, and that's a time when it can become difficult to play your dragon. Because
you want to play the dragon you were given, but you don't understand it.. and
that's usually the fault of us not getting to know you and/or you not being
forthcoming enough about all the aforementioned stuff. That's when people will
rewrite their dragon the way they like it... or just idle out. And it's sad.
:/
PrettyFlitter hees at Purr. Not as bad as Dru and Chayath, though
T'am grins. *smooches Qua goodbye* Farleth's personality has definately evolved
around his country-boy inspiration, but it's easy to pull out certain aspects
of that to meet any given situation (like being Yaji's quarterback, or taunting
Old Man Dsalth. ;P)
Shaela notes again, page me iffn you have blue questions. :D
The housekeeper arrives to cart Quara off to bed.
Shaela says, "No more blue questions? We'll move onto brown then. :)"
Sikkyen boogies for brown, then.
Shaela says, "Oliana has the first question :)"
Miralwyn hands Ike a kleenex. ;)
Sikkyen sniffles at Wyn, and drags himself up on her hoverchair. Move over --
I've got popcorn!
Sikkyen has disconnected.
Sikkyen falls asleep.
Shaela dissolves into fits of laughter.
Fyria rolls. Typical male.
Ndi laughs. Oy. ;p
Oliana fluffs her Sikkyen pillow. "Ahem. My questions are several fold,
actually, so I guess I'm cheating a bit by asking more than one...Anyway, my
first is that female Brownriders can't be WL, I know...so does this put them
in second place for mating flights almost automatically? I know they catch,
yes, but I want to know if OOCly goldriders aren't prone to having them come
out the winners. The second question is more of a statement..I've always thought
that browns sort of get the short end of the mating stick. They have a hard
time catching green or gold is sorta the preconception I have. Is this true?
How often to browns catch green/gold here? And I also hear that brown isn't
common for females? Will you all prefer to impress girls to blue/green rather
than brown, or will girls going for brown have less of a chance, etc?"
*hopes she's making sense.*
Fyria luffs Oli. ;)
Shaela has had 3 on camera flights, I think. The first was a brown girl. The
second was a brown boy. The third was a brown girl. :P That might just be me,
though. I have a thing for brown.
Ndi thinks generally, we prefer to ignore AMC preconceptions as much as possible.
We're evil little children like that. ;)
Lylia points to Druseth. Two golds and a lot of greens. They can pimp, yo. :)
Oliana afks for a sec...be /right/ back
Shaela says, "We impress people where they want to be most. And where we
want them most to be. If you put any colour 1, and all the others not-1, if
we really don't want to see you on that colour, Search often votes to not-Impress,
rather than go through all the writing of a dragon and all only to see the person
idle out because it wasn't the colour they wanted most."
RompBompAChomp grins. I like those questions. As a brownrider, I have never
ever felt slighted in a flight, because of my colour. *colourism doesnt exist
here*. Dsalth has chased many golds (and never won but thats a diff story) and
in green flights, he's caught as many greens as blues have. No-one at hrw, female
dragons, have ever made me feel like i shouldn't bother trying, because as if
a brown would win. Hey, bronzes catch greens regularly here.
Shaela says, "If everyone we searched wanted brown most, we'd impress all
brown. We don't have a quota for colours to impress."
T'am seconds that part about bronzes catching greens regularly here. :D
PrettyFlitter snickers.
Shaela says, "The only thing we're not going to impress two of is gold,
and the reasons for that are kind of because we can only lay one at a time.
;)"
RompBompAChomp gives Chayath steroids. Lay two!
Shaela cackles. First she has to get caught by a bronze. ;)
Sage laughs.
T'am watches Chayath lay a two-headed gold instead of two golds...specially
with all the inbreeding going on.
Ndi mms. Inceessst.
Shaela dies of laughter.
Fyria snorts. Redneck Reaches. Yeehaw.
[OOC:] Fyria * ;)
Shaela hopes that answers, but I fear oliana isn't active enough to confirm
that.
Shaela okies and takes Seilyn's question now, then :)
Miralwyn ponders. If you can't keep it in your pants, keep it in the family?
*ducks*
Fyria lobs a pillow at Wyn. Bad. ;)
Oliana beams and thankses belatedly
Seilyn gets up on her.. /very/ tall soapbox. "Is there any position a female
brown can't be besides weyrleader, and is there any position a male brown can't
be? I'm thinking no but curiosity creeped up."
Shaela says, "Neither can be weyrwoman. :P"
PrettyFlitter yays for Shae.
Ndi darns. And here I was thinking they could.
Kaiji snerks.
Tirone looks concerned. Wait, but /I/ can be weyrwoman, right?
Shaela says, "Any other questions?"
Tirone curses. My evil plan's foiled.
Miralwyn ponders. Not even if you gave the dwaggin a pretty gold paintjob? Yes.
I need sleep!
T'am eyes Wyn. Better not do that unless you want Farleth flying him. ;)
PrettyFlitter cackles!
Shaela giggles at Miralwyn, uh, yeah... no. :P Girls can fly in the queens'
wing, though, if they get pregnant. Which seems to happen an awful lot around
here.
Fyria eyes her glass. It's the water, I swear.
PrettyFlitter whispers. It's the water. Really, I wouldn't drink it around here
unless it's been mixed with klah and/or alcohol.
Miralwyn clings to her green stuff!
Fyria belatedly bonds with Lors.
Shaela says, "And a bit of green stuff."
Oliana stops drinking liquids in horror
PrettyFlitter takes a chance to mention that despite the high PC pregnancy rate
recently, you don't have to get your char preggers. Yeah. Not everyone is so
stupid to go and get a baby like that. ;P
Shaela nods. So... calling for last questions on brown before we go to bronze.
T'am thanks Lors for dutifully taking her green stuff *whew*
RompBompAChomp grrs. And I've been trying so hard to knock Purr up!
Ndi nods. In fact, Ndi is one of the few greenriders who is not actively dedicating
her life to procreation.
Fyria eyes T'am, and says nothing. *snicker*
Sage bonds with Ndi. Sage finds children to be the devil, anyhow.
Tirone pokes Ndi. We should start a club.
Ndi cheers.
Fyria has miraculously bonded with 2 weyrbrats. She's reached her maximum quota
on kidlets, so she's done. ;)
Kirana mrrrs. And hasta go, order of mom. There'll be a log right?
Oliana also hates children, as they tend to mess and drool
PrettyFlitter giggles. How many girlie riders haven't gotten pregnant, then?
3 of us? ;P
Kaiji hasn't.
PrettyFlitter makes it 5.
Kirana snugs!
Kirana has disconnected.
Kirana drifts off to sleep.
Shaela hollers. Bronze questions!
T'am raises his hand. Um, yes, I was wondering when it's -my- turn to be Weyrwoman?
Oh, what? You meant for the candidates to ask questions?
Shaela coughs.
Oliana dresses up T'am in black leather dress and gives him gold spray paint.
There. Hop to it.
Seilyn idly tells someone to remind her to love T'am.
Fyria pokes Seilyn. Don't forget to loathe--erm, love T'am.
Shaela points to T'am and notes to the group that you really don't have to be
the brightest bulb in the box to be a bronzer. We take all kinds. :D
RompBompAChomp cheers!
Oliana laughs!
Fyria snickers.
Sage snickers. ;)
T'am dies.
Mosiah thuds. Heh.
Sage notes Fyria owes her a coke.
Fyria notes Sage owes her her braincell.
Shaela counts down for bronze questions! 3...
Shaela says, "2...."
PrettyFlitter has one.
Lylia looks cute and does the 'Go, brown, go!' dance.
Shaela bounces on PrettyFlitter.
PrettyFlitter erms. I think I do..one that the candis may want the answer to.
If I can word it properly
Seilyn was for some reason reminded by Shaela's bounce that I need to put the
potatoes in the fridge...
Shaela thinks long and hard about that.
Fyria is intrigued. Bouncing tubers?
PrettyFlitter ponders. Okay...erm, I guess this more relates to all the dragons
rather than bronze. How exactly are dragons in their relationships? I know that
Yajisarath prefers one, but if she rises, she'll take the best chasing her if
he isn't there. The male dragons, they can go to a flight every day if they
like. Is it likely that, say, a bronze would chase one dragon rather than many
or a blue would chase many rather than one? Like monogamy and stuff, but different.
If you get my drift.
Sage oos and does want the answer.
Fyria nods. Awesome question.
Oliana oooohhss
PrettyFlitter thinks this would affect riders who are more into having one mate
than sleeping around and stuffs. I mean, if there's a real prude and s/he Impresses
a dragon-color that is likely to chase (and perhaps win) a lot of different
flights, then that person would probably get pretty messed up
RompBompAChomp coughs. P'rru is a real prude in flights and he has a weyrmate.
But he's ancient so he can deal with it.
T'am ooohs. Good question. I can say that Farleth at least chases (as I've said
many times) anything in his immediate vicinity that glows. But I rather see
that as draggie hormones taking over when a green rises. Usually (when not distracted
by a glowing hide on a visit to Ista or some-such), he only has eyes for one
green and she's the only one he wants to curl up and share a ledge with.
T'am eyes Lorsa's last statement and adds that perhaps this tendancy of Far's
to chase anything glowing has something to do with how messed up T'am is. ;P
Shaela says, "Anything more on bronze, or shall we do gold?"
Ndi has disconnected.
Ndi yawns and slumps over. 'Nite!
Seilyn would think that it would depend on the dragon? And the situation? Gold-chasing
is more 'politcal' I think so it wouldn't matter the feelings between the gold
and another dragon. If that dragon isn't strong enough to be fit as the victor
then c'est la vie, no? Say a brown that is very sensitive, loving, affectionate,
etc. would more likely only chase few or, like Farleth, only have eyes for one
and treat the others as a way of passing the time *coughcough* while a brown
with more independant, rough 'n' tough lovin', heartbreaker would chase everything
glowing and be not so prone to 'settling down'? Does that make sense?
PrettyFlitter grins. Yeah, the consensus seems to be that it depends upon the
dragon. So you /may/ want to specify when you get to yack about your dream dragon
in the questionnaires whether you'd like to have a womanizing (greenizing?)
dragon or one who is more likely to pick a favorite and chase only her.
Fyria steps away for a moment to scrawl out a message to someone.
Shaela nodnods. OKay. Anything more?
T'am suspects Fyria is making a note to herself to ask for a maleizing green
dragon. *hee*
Oliana suspects Fyria of everything ;oP
PrettyFlitter giggles
Isis bites T'am.
Shaela will go to gold, then. Does anybody have gold questions? I know we're
not hatching one this time, but if you have any questions, this is a good time
to ask. And you can talk to me (or Py, or any other HRW gold, I'll volunteer
them) anytime.
G'deon says, "Not that your dragon has to be one or the other."
The housekeeper arrives to cart Ndi off to bed.
Fyria returns, sending a firelizard off to deliver the message.
Fyria sniffs and belatedly maintains her rep as an innocent. *hushes now*
Kaiji hacks.
Fyria feeds a widget to Kaiji.
Shaela twinkles. Noooo gold questions?
Seilyn thinks there would be a lot more gold questions if there was a gold egg
*her two bits*
Sage asked hers earlier. ;P *idly wonders when the projected or set-in-stone
date for the Hatching is?*
Miralwyn dittos at Seilyn. But, for the sake of tradition, can ask the 'What
is the fishbowl effect' question?
Fyria hahs. Ye old fishbowl effect. *grin*
Oliana corrects Fy. "Fishbole Effecte"
Shaela noddles. I'm encouraging you to ask now since we have, in the past, impressed
people to non-gold and later they decided they'd wanted the gold, but then it's
too late. It's not too late now to pull out from candidacy because you think
you'd rather have gold. Or just because you're curious on gold, ask questions.
Whatever. If you have questions, nevermind how serious you are about gold, pleasepleaseplease
ask. :D
Fyria wriggles a hand. ACtually, yes. A question.
Shaela twinkles at Fyria. Yay! :)
Shaela notes to Sage, while there's a lulll, that we don't have a Hatching date
yet. Probably around April 6-7. But not confirmed. We'll be asking you guys
for good days and times.
Oliana idly wonders if there's a command to see the breakdown of rider #s (how
many on gold.br.brn.bl.gr etc)
Sage nods and hopes it's not them, I get my wisom teeth out on the 5th. :P
Fyria coughs. Just how temperamental are golds in general when they've clutched?
Or is it pretty much dependent on the gold's personality? ie, is Cadgewith more
likely to turn someone into greasy spot on the cavern walls versus Chayath?
Fyria belatedly sneaks that e out of 'Cadgwith'
Seilyn points to feature #109...
Danio> G'deon goes home.
Danio> Oliana spams herself into an early grave
Danio> Shaela thinks. Again, that's sort of a character question, so yah,
it's really going to boil down to what Search wrote your dragon as, or what
you think your dragon will be. I think all golds are innately protective, but
how they act on that may differ.
Danio> Shaela says, "Other quesitons?"
Danio> Miralwyn hovers, and is good.
Danio> Shaela yums. Okay. I know Seilyn had an insp-related question, do
you remember it? I could pull it up out of backlog.
Danio> Oliana notes there are more browns than blues at HRW (21 to 19) ;)
Danio> Shaela will move into some wrap-up type of miscellaneous quesitons,
now. Oliana is next. :)
Danio> Fyria shakes her head. The colourpak was well-done, and answered pretty
much all of my qeustions. ;)
Danio> Oliana oohs. "Say someone *cough* can't decide on the color they'd
like. Is it ok for them to say 'honestly I don't care, a dragon with 'x' personality
is all I ask' ?"
Danio> Shaela nods to Oliana. Yeah. We generally prefer to hear that you
want one over the other because Search gets nervous having to pick between two..
but if you really want us to, we will quite happily surprise you. :)
Danio> Oliana sighs. "Phew"
Danio> Sage grins.
Danio> RompBompAChomp laughs. Shae, I don't get nervous. I know best, afterall
;P
Danio> Seilyn had her question answered actually. I wasn't aware we were
given questionaires to build the inps. about which was my question.
Danio> Shaela says, "sometimes people want different things for different
colour dragons, too. This is also okay. In fact, sometimes this helps us to
decide between the two. Because maybe we see personality of blue dragon you
wanted more suited to you than personality of green dragon you wanted."
Danio> Shaela wonders if there's any more wrap-up misc. questions?
Danio> Sage really hasta go...thanks for seminar! :)
Danio> T'am idly notes for Oliana that SearchCo really wanted to give him
bronze, and even though they got me to go along with it quite happily...I think
I was still surprised.
Danio> Sage has disconnected.
Danio> Sage konks out. Yep, like...hard.
*** Disconnected ***
I had to disconnect here, obviously. Way too tired IRL. Hopefully I'll be able
to get the end of the log from someone soon. -Gid
