Chez Jesha & Zi'n (#13937)
Warmth greets your eye as you step inside the lair of Zi'n and Orbyth. Held mainly in red, the room appears warm and cozy, and the occasional splodges of green only break what could become a monotonous atmosphere. On the right of the entrance, a small table and a couple of chairs are scattered with careless elegance, the plain wood polished so the mahogany streaks highlight 'gainst a lighter surface. Besides the rack of clothes somewhere near the curtain in the back - probably leading to a private bathroom - there's an arrangement of blankets and pillows in a comfortable nest on the floor, in front of the stones that make up a small hearth. The only other furniture in the weyr is the bed; sheets and pillows varying from deepest cinnabar, over golden orange and to forest green.

It is noon of the sixty-eighth day of spring.

Zi'n sits at his desk, frowning over some charts, as Orbyth announces that Jesha and Sevareth have gone to Ista to sun themselves and visit friends, and also that Nylanth is on his way across the bowl. Puzzled, the Weyrleader stands, grabbing the last sweetroll on the tray before meandering towards the ledge to greet the incoming G'deon. He (Zi'n) looks to be his usual cheerful self, and he offers a wave with one hand while shielding the single ray of sun from his eyes with the other. "I didn't think they'd be back /this/ soon," he offers as a side-note to Orbyth, who seems more interested in looking at a bug on the wall than in the approaching bronze.

Nylanth glides in smoothly to settle on the ledge, offering a soft rumble as his greeting while G'deon offers a much more vocal one, a rather jubilant "Hello there!" as he slides from the bronze's shoulders. Both rider and dragon seem to be in excellent health, the rider's hide having just a bit of bronze as well, though certainly not as dark as his lifemate's. "Greetings from Ista," Gid adds with a wide grin as he strides forward. You'd think he'd never heard it's impolite to invite himself over like this as he holds out a hand to Zi'n. "How are things with this dear Weyr of ours?"

Zi'n grins as well as he shakes G'deon's hand enthusiastically. "Oh, things are going pretty quiet. The weyrlings are graduating soon, but I'm sure you know that." A puzzled expression crosses his features then. "I didn't expect you back so soon, actually. Got too much of Ista's sun?" The last is said in a teasing manner - Faranth knows he enjoys Ista's climate more than anyone. Orbyth offers a warble to Nylanth, that could mean anything from 'Nice to see you' to 'Hey, I caught another green yesterday' - but the bug is still fascinating. Look, it's over there!

"Oh, I've been back and forth quite a bit over the months," G'deon replies with an indifferent shrug. "May as well take advantage of this lug of a bronze here," he adds with a quick laugh, giving Nylanth a significant look at which the bronze simply snorts, large eyes whirling in shades of curious blues. "You know, visiting Ilare and the three kids." Notice the omission? "But good news, my esteemed weyrleader. We're back! That is, if you'll have us." Gid just can't seem to keep that silly grin from his face as he stands just a bit taller (in case he weren't already tall enough). "May I present Pern's newest dragonhealing pair," with a flourishing bow that somehow includes Zi'n, Nylanth and himself. Gee, someone's happy.

Zi'n looks very pleased indeed at G'deon's words, and his face lights up in a beam as he slaps the other bronzer's shoulder. "Of course I do! Well, we all do. Shells, that's fantastic. Congratulations. We always need more dragonhealers around." Beam, beam, everywhere. "I assume you've already spoken to Quara about re-joining Inferno? And how are Ilare and the children doing?" Questions, questions. The weyrleader just fires 'em off as he keeps smiling, gesturing a hand towards the weyr. "Come in for a glass of wine - unless you're busy, of course?" Then again, no-one should be too busy for a fine glass of Benden Red which he just happens to have on stack.... hehe.

G'deon gives a soft laugh and shrugs. "Maybe just a quick glass," he teases, as if you could have a quick glass of good Benden. "And yes, I've already spoken with Quara. It was on the way and all." Ah yes, still the efficient ex-Smith at heart if much more relaxed now. "And actually... I haven't stopped by Ilare's weyr just yet. I kind of wanted to surprise her and all." In reality, he's nervous as hell, but we won't get into that just yet. "I just thought I should drop by and sort of report in, let you guys know I'm back and all." It was no small feat of Nylanth's to keep G'deon from shouting the news from the Weyr's spires, of course. The bronze was just never much of a fan of such boasting.

Zi'n smiles, pleased, as he leads G'deon into the weyr - and to the Benden! "Hm, we'll save the rest for later," he states conspiratorially, giving the other bronzer an impish wink. "Glad t'hear there're no problems with Quara though - I hear she'd had a couple of, eh, problems with a few lazy riders in her wing." Or maybe they were just hungover? It is Inferno, after all. "Be sure to give Ilare my greetings - managing three children isn't an easy task!" He has problems enough with his two, and they even live with their respective mothers. "How was Ista, then?" inquires the weyrleader next, eager to hear goss... eh, news, about his former home. "And how is, uh, Saria?" Brief blushing at the senior weyrwoman's name - those embarrassing incidents during weyrlinghood shall remain unmentioned, but not forgotten, unfortunately.

"Oh? I hadn't heard," G'deon replies to the lazy rider comment. He doesn't seem terribly interested, though. The slightly younger rider shakes his head a bit then as he follows Zi'n into the weyr. "No, Ilare just has the two. I imagine Pyrene keeps Pidgery with the nannies. Or maybe he stays with her... I don't really know," Gid explains, managing to keep his voice mostly neutral. He laughs then as he leans against a table, quite at his leisure. "Ista was warm. A bit too warm for my northern blood." He certainly got a splendid tan out of the deal, but then, spending well over half a turn on a tropical island should. "Saria is all right, I think," he then begins to add slowly, frowning just a little. "We didn't exactly talk much outside of business though." And this 'Reaches raised rider is pretty clueless as to any dealings Zi'n may have head with the weyrwoman.

Zi'n smacks his forehead - after setting down the 'skin, of course! "Oh, right, Siannen was the one who had three, wasn't she? I thought it was Ilare. I'm sure two are enough," the 'rider grins lopsidedly, winking at G'deon as he holds out one of the glasses filled with wine. "A toast, to the prodigal 'Reachian!" After taking a much-needed sip, the weyrleader continues. "Ah, I imagine business with Saria made for plenty of talking. I was going to go for a visit soon anyway, I'll have a chat with her then." If he dares - and if he can hold off on the blushing. So tedious. "How did Nylanth like the weather down there? Orbyth was devastated when we moved to 'Reaches," he admits with a big grin, glancing towards the ledge. "But he settled in - he likes the snow, and it fascinates him when breathing comes out as little puffs in the air." Big, bronze child. Sheesh.

G'deon gives a rather amused smile as he nods slowly. "Aye, two are /more/ than enough. I honestly don't know how Ilare survived their infant stage." And three? Inconceivable. Gid takes the offered glass and swirls it slowly before taking a long, appreciative sniff. Oh yeah, that's the stuff. He pauses in taking a drink to nod to Zi'n, again frowning just a tiny bit. "Well yes, plenty of talking. It was a bit... strained at times, though. Like working too hard to /keep/ it about dragonhealing or weyr business and nothing else." But with another small smile and shrug, G'deon goes on to take a tiny drink of the Benden, sighing in delight. "Now this, my dear weyrleader, is a very fine wine. Thank you. Oh, Nyls? He likes it better here as well. It's so hard to see the stars sometimes in that muggy climate, not that the heat itself ever seemed to bother him much. He says the air here is cleaner. I think I'd have to agree."

No more about brats, now. Zi'n is more interested in G'deon's experience at Ista, even though he tries to hide his curiosity regarding the other's comment about Saria. "Oh? Saria didn't give you a hard time, did she? She can be kind of.... intimidating." As he says the words, his eyes flicker around the room as if he's afraid the weyrwoman herself can eavesdrop somehow. With a slightly crooked grin, the 'rider shrugs. "I mean, my whole weyrling class were scared of her. Wouldn't want to get on her bad side!" Shrugging again, he takes another sip of wine, sighing contentedly. "Very fine indeed - F'reud brought it back from a visit." Gotta love those casual 'visits' to Benden - hehe. "True, the air seems much finer here at 'Reaches - all that humidity makes one so exhausted, whereas the cold climate seems to freshen up the mind more." Such intellectual dissection of the weather...

G'deon's gaze narrows just a bit as he gives Zi'n a puzzled look as the fellow bronzer continues to ask about Saria. "No, she didn't give me a hard time. If anything, I made things difficult for /her/." Gid shakes his head and leans against the table again while taking another sip of wine. "No, the weyrwoman was a very good teacher. I'm just thankful she and Quarith were able to give us as much time as she did. I don't think there are many goldriders who would have, and bronze dragonhealers are few and far between." Just a point of fact, really, or at least that's the story G'deon is going with. "Well, at least Falls weren't too bad at Ista. One of the nicer things about riding bronze is that you get to fly higher where even in the tropics the air is cooler." He grins, winking at Zi'n. "But anyway... how has your weyrmate been? She's a transfer from Ista as well, right?"

[Fade to black as the two riders disappear into the weyr.]
