Jax can't swim, can't tie a rope, and can't stand Dwarves, but he can whistle a mean "Puff the Magic Dragon," and spin a catchy limerick when wee_allie's spirit possesses him. It is also rumoured, but not confirmed, that he and his brother can share their brain, which makes endearing noises like <sploosh> and <slosh> when it is transferred. Like all Orcs, he has infravision (120'), known to Dracons as HotVision™. Like all Dracons, he is partial to the expressions "Frak" and "Fewmets." Jax has been known to use a rope and grappling hook to try to entangle his foes; this usually ends up in spectacular failure, and has earned him the second moniker "GrappleJax." Jax is an expert swordsman.

As per Monsters! Monsters!® rules, Jax regains lost STR and CON at the rate of 1 each per non-combat turn.

Jax is permanently immune to all 1st-level spells, thanks to Khara Khang.

Background/Personality

Jax is the elder son of Oother Pe'ng Dracon, son of Uklug, son of Nishgrahk, son of Ratajanx, who slew Ancalagon the Black Wyrm.

He is very loyal to his clan and to his friends. This often means going out of his way to rescue (and resurrect) his ever-stinkin' brother, Taran. It is rumoured, but not confirmed, that they are twins. Jax often makes rash decisions, but he's learning to control them as of late.

In 1313 A.K. at the ripe age of 18, Jax had his first adventure: Ken St. Andre's Agents of Lerotra'hh PBEM, in which the Death Goddess Lerotra'hh, under the guise of his mother, tricked Jax into joining her elite agents to save Khazan from invasion (see the Trollworld Timeline). Instead, Jax ended up in a trio of delvers who climbed the full mile up to Gristlegrim's cube, where he euthanized the odious Dwarf's eternal prisoner Arnn-Gaxx (last of the elephantine Haroouugh). Arnn-Gaxx's lifeblood splashed on Jax and his scimitar, boosting his intelligence by 10 points, permanently vorpalling his sword, and granting him the wrath of the godling. A little piece of the empathic Haroouugh also lodged itself in his subconscious, and surfaces from time to time. The details of Jax's return from this adventure seem to have been lost, but we have our best editors working to rectify the situation....

Jax's second adventure was Goblins in the Mist, where a particularly insightful Fairy named Lilac taught him the trick to eating crow, and got him hooked on sun-dried lizards. This is when Jax got his magic cloak and "get out of Trouble™" token.

In Jax's third adventure, Lizardmen in Red Water Bay (1314 A.K.), he got thrown for a few (time) loops, and managed to witness his dear brother's classic death scenes countless times. They did get old after a while.... He also learned that one cannot reliably wield two bagh nakh/bich'wa combo's without a whopping 28 DEX (doh!). "No prob," he said, whipping out his trusty EverSharp™ blade with a snicker-snack. When all was said and done, he walked away with a new level, a new suit of armor befitting his name, and feeling both very lucky and very, very full.

Oblique Streams was Jax's fourth adventure. After an unsettling kidnapping by interdimensional aliens and a temporary plane-shifting organ transplant by the same aliens, the odd quest forced upon him and his comrades by one Mr. Grippenweld ended prematurely due to some tear in the fabric of spacetime, no doubt. He found himself back at the Blue Frog Tavern with an inexplicable tattoo on his back and a new pair of black leather gloves.

Jax's fifth adventure Dangerous Creations (1315 A.K.), was filled with intraparty dissension, death and danger (natch!). This adventure returned Jax to direct service under Lerotra'hh, whom he finally got to see in her stunning true form. Another Zweetz baddy was located and deposed in the process, and he gained the astonishing knowledge that his tattoo was a Talo Worm symbiont. He also managed to bring his Skeleton friend Jack de Crampon back from the certain doom of Lerotra'hh's ire.

In late 1315 A.K., Jax embarked on his sixth adventure to help his friend Shipy recover an ancient weapon of mass destruction, The Pirate Blade of Rahnian. In one of the rashest decisions of his short life, Jax nearly caused the annihilation of a minor corner of Trollworld by unleashing the Balrog imprisoned within the blade. The catastrophe was averted by several just-in-time revelations and rescues. During the climactic battle scene, Jax took friendly fire from a Fairy named Quickly, and his Talo Worm "Harvey" was accidentally fried off his back by a well-meaning Centaur-infatuated Elf named Olvarin. But in the end, he gained another free meal, a DEX boost, and suspicions that Shipy had pilfered both the Pirate Blade and Jax's "get out of Trouble™" coin.

Appearance

Jax is your basic burly, medium-sized Orc. He is a city Orc, born and bred in the warrens of Khazan. There may be some Human (or at least Uruk-Hai) in his lineage, for he is not afflicted with Orcs' sensitivity to light.

It is rumoured that he is the handsome Dracon brother. Oh yeah, Jax was missing a foot at the end of Agents of Lerotra'hh (giant crocodiles love pig's feet), but the editors have plans to give him his foot back. Good thing, too, since he keeps on using it.

Jax sports his clan symbol (a Dragon, of course) tattooed on his backside.
