Its time to make some crazy money! The console-only sequel to last years shallow but fun taxi game. Sega may have some difficulties making worthwhile systems to play, but they have a good feeling for making software that is both creative and fun. Basically Sega kept the original formula and added some new levels, new cabbies, and a new move to bring about some fresh material to the game. The games' concept is the same, pick up passengers and delivering them to their destinations in a certain amount of time. Doing this increases the time and more time means more points, thats it. No real objective here like beating a last boss, saving a princess, just good old fashion point collecting, who can score the highest number of points. The first game took place in San fransico, now the surroudings have changed, New York city here we come. There is also a good number of licensed stores like Burger King, HMV, and FAO Schwarz. The size of the two levels: Around Apple and Small Apple are equilvilent to the size of the first games' maps. Finding shortcuts is a key to success and finding those shortcuts takes some mastering of the games' new smooth move, the crazy hop. With the simple press of the Y button comes the ability to fly high in the air and avoid traffic. The crazy mini games of the first have returned, these games help you improve your driving abilities sort of like the license test in Gran Turismo. Graphically its the same with the noticeable exception of a smoother frame rate and less slowdown. The Offspring will continue to holler their music while other bands provide music too, the repetetive soundtrack is made up with by funny sounding voices of the cabbies and your passengers. Crazy Taxi 2 is as much fun as the first game though it offers nothin totally new, its a good DC game. We all know that Sega will have to swallow its pride and turn third party developer, but till then feast of this solid DC title.Rating=8.0
Pros=huge levels with more interaction then the first Crazy Taxi, cool Crazy Pyramid mode, and its a good Dreamcast game. Cons=Offspring.....no!!!!!!!, nothing totally new here, and it is one of the last good Dreamcast games. |
