So many games, so many, yet somehow Chrono Cross had three out of four of us here proclaiming it as the single best game of 2000. Tony Hawk 2 was addicting and so was Half Life Counter Strike, SSX showed what Sony hyped about for years what the PS2 was going to be, and Final Fantasy, Zelda were their usual selves:excellent. But Chrono Cross was a piece of work that from the start was trouble, with 3/4 of the Chrono Trigger staff gone, most notably Akira Toriyama and Yuji Hori and because of that we didn't breathe to good for this game, luckily we were not dissapointed. It still was a sequel, connecting with the original in a way that Chrono Trigger fans can understand, but not too much where playing the first was mandatory, hell proving it did connect with the first game one of the characters in Chrono Cross is related to Schala. The battle system was critized early on for being too ambitious, or weird, it worked fine for us by simply being the best combat system we have encountered. The graphics were colorful and the music was fitting for each particular scene. The only drawback we saw with this one was there were too many characters, most of you can agree with us saying we didn't use half of them most of the time. The PS one has built a legacy so rich that it has played host to some of the best games ever and has made a name for itself as being called the greatest system ever. Chrono Cross is one such game, joining Super Mario 64, Half Life, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6(or III in the U.S.), The Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past, Super Metroid, Starcraft, Tony Hawk 2, Golden Eye, Streets Of Rage, and Gran Turismo as a game we will still be playing years from now.
