Please bare with me on this review if you are expecting pics of Gasaraki, I couldn't upload them(problems of course, sigh), anyways here is what I think of this show from ADV films.I do not quite understand why many people I have talk to and critics such as us find Gasaraki so appealing. For all of us individuals that find anime appealing because of characters for whatever reason are not going to find that here. The characters are not who we the viewer will grow attach to but instead the politically dense world they inhabit. Full of gunfights, mysterious men in black, and shady world politics, the best way at least how I view it is like Tom Clancy fiction littered with healthy amounts of Japanese mysticism. Of course their is that and the Japanese anime trademark: giant mechs. Gasaraki is all about creating a mirror of our world via attention to the engineering of the mobile suits, and the writers' observations of military protocol and government relations. Gasraki is in fact, the story of sqaubbling nations and their covert(sometimes not so covert) attempts to secure the bipedal mobile suits that can upset the balance of world power. Reaching for a balance between the better parts of early Gundam and modern anime thats what Gasaraki is all about. Gasaraki delves a little deeper in its mechs than most other animes, by explaining their orgin and their structure which might appeal to Armored Core fans. This show is slow especially early on but later is when it jumps to the near level of Evangelion. Give it shot but I feel their are too many mech animes out there and better ones too, but shit thats just me.Rating=6.0 Pros=Good world class political story. Cons=too slow paced, characters are pretty drab, and the story might be too serious for some. |
