Abreviated Background:
Abby was second of four children and grew up in a nature preserve, isolated from society. She scored high in NetSchools during the elementary, but began displaying personality aberrations when she was mainstreamed into face-to-face education.
After a very difficult and traumatic transition into regular school, Abby began withdrawing from social activities, and concentrating on more and more esoteric studies and pursuits. Unable to cope with ridicule from her peers, Abby withdrew from regular school, returning home and finishing her educationg online. She then entered a transcendentalist retreat, where she remained for the next four years.
It was there that Abby was approached by the Company to put her skills to good use for the benefit of the world. She wasn't entirely thrilled about the idea, but had nothing more pressing on her schedule.
Personality and Character Quirks:
Abby's entire personality is made up of quirks. She is one of those people who used to be referred to as "way out there." She has an excellent, uncanny, in fact, success rate for finding things, which is the only reason the Company would put up with her. She doesn't like following rules, but when she breaks them it will be more from absentmindedness or thoughtlessness than actual malice. She is very directed when she's involved in something, and has been known to walk into walls or other obstacles when distracted. She has no tact to speak of, and doesn't interact more than necessary with her coworkers. When confronted with a situation that overwhelms or frightens her, she will either run away from it or try and deny its existance.
The main exception to all of these quirks is when Abby is working. If actually engaged in doing her job, Abby will disengage many of her natural responses if necessary, in order to accomplish a task. She may still seem fuzzy, but is much more focused than at any other time.
