Brian (Chrono Trigger created)
Brian is a pretty good character. First of all, he starts out with Third Eye (which increases your evade to a huge amount), Prism Specs (which maxes out power), Rainbow, and excellent armor. He also has some very good moves.
Abilities:
Parry: Brian charges up similar to Cyan's Retort. When he is attacked, he will attempt to reflect or redirect the assault.
Poker Strike: Brian stabs someone one turn, then the next turn the sword glows red hots and ignites stuff. There is also a one-turn version.
Roulette Slash Alpha: Brian blindfolds and jumps to the middle of the screen, then picks an enemy or ally randomly and attacks them with a powerful attack.
Roulette Slash Beta: Same as Roulette Slash Alpha, but does a doom attack that is not guaranteed to succeed. However, it does always does damage and causes an Aggravated Wound if it fails. Be very careful with those two moves. I suggest if you are the GM to roll dice.
Drill Blade: Brian turns his sword very fast, then charges with it spinning and bores into an enemy; decreases defense of the target.
Devil's Dice: Brian throws dice; depending on the number of dice and amount on the dice, the damage varies. A fun move.
Speed Dice: Throws dice, depending on the number of dice and the amount on each dice, more slices will happen. Note that on all dice moves, the dice numbers will get higher when levels increase.
Sword Entangle: Entangles a sword or other melee weapon with the sword, making it so that neither Brian nor the other person can use the swords or other weapon, except maybe to push at each other. This move leaves Brian in a bad position, but it is very likely to leave his opponent in a similarly bad position.
Sword Shatter: Brian attempts to shatter the enemy's sword. This one is more aggressive and is less likely to leave Brian in bad position, but is not quite as strategic.
Dire Strike: Takes health from Brian to hurt the enemy. Basically like Darkside from FF8.
Sword Dance: Brian throws a flurry of dice at enemies to confuse them, then circles around and creates a tornado, then leaps in and stabs an enemy or many with powerful circular strength. His Luminaire or Dark Matter.
Stacked Dice: "Cheats" and makes the next few dice throws much higher. Very nice.
Cluster Dice: New dice "magically" appear. If you have someone to cover for you, use these two and you can do some great damage with Speed or Devil's Dice.
Weighed Roulette: Again, Brian cheats and makes the roulette favor enemies and not favor allies.
Stacked Luck: Stacks Brian's luck in general. All of these moves benefit from repeated use.
Devil's Speed Dice: A combo of Devil's Dice and Speed Dice. Extremely costly. Do it only after Cluster and Stacked Dice in general.
Devil or Speed Add: Brian can add Devil's Dice or Speed Dice to any manuever, so Sword Entangle might be really weak or really strong, or he can entangle a sword six times. Very cool.
Ultimate Equipment:
Devil's Rainbow: A very cool sword that automatically does Sword Shatter, Speed Dice, Poker Strike (the one-turn variety) or Devil's Dice. About 1% of the time it will do Sword Dance.
Devil's Moon Armor: A nice armor that adds to luck.
Devil's Crystal Helm: A helmet that is obscured.
Devil's Shield Gauntlets: Brian does not equip shields, but instead equips forearm gauntlets that functions as shields. These can reverse enemy fire at the opponent.
Demonic Third Eye: Very powerful Third Eye.
Demonic Prism Specs: Sends Power through the roof.
Satan Dice: Dice that is very powerful. Yes, dice count as equipment.
Reviews:
Brian is very cool for being a pure swordsman. As far as him being bad at long-range, I have two responses. Devil's Dice, Speed Dice, Poker Strike, Parry.... many of his moves work with guns that you can equip to him. Try getting better dice if Devil's Dice isn't working too well. If you have problems getting close even with guns, try using Roulette Slash. You will then be close to an enemy. I like his selection of moves. -Fred
